Blower will not shut off
There is probably a blown capacitor in the thermal protection circuit causing the cooling fan to run constantly. Unless you are an experienced electronics technician you probably need to take this to a shop to get it repaired.
Wrong voltage supply
did you try LSB. Maybe the band opened up for you.sniff around to smell which one blew and replace that one .if there are two together replace them both.
Hi i have a problem with my ranger 2950dx which is
- You run your Ranger on FM? FM use Full Modulation. It puts everything that radio has in the way of power as soon as you key down (No "Swing.") In fact FM on a Ranger is pointless because the frequencies on FM that are available on the Ranger are CW only unless you are using Sideband with FM on say 28.400 USB but you said SB was fine. If you put that radio on FM and key down you are lucky your radio is even working at all and this could be part of your problem.
- As for this problem on AM, you could have weakened things when keying on FM. You could have fried the Audio Chip. Could have a bad crystal. Could have a shorted transistor.
- Any mods been done to this radio? Is there an Echo Board inside this radio? Is the radio new? New to you? Have you opened the radio at all? If not, open it and see if the chip itself is getting hot of something else.

My Ranger2950 has no sound??
Have a look
here for info about the Ranger 2950. This is an Amateur 10 & 12 meter transceiver that enjoy some popularity due to its ability to be modified to work on the 27Mhz Citizens Band. Make sure the Mode is set to something other than PA. A few of the first things that come to mind is the Volume, Squelch & RF Gain settings. The Volume is straight forward - choose a setting in the middle to begin. Next, set the squelch. Most radios have the squelch open when set fully counter-clockwise. As you move the squelch to this position, sound should be heard from the speaker if a signal is present. As long as there is an antenna connected, the radio should "hear" noise. If you do not hear anything, leave the Squelch fully CCW and try varying the RF Gain fully in one direction. If you still hear nothing, set the Squelch to the fully clock-wise position. Adjust the RF Gain to the opposite direction. At this point, you should have heard something - even if just static hash. If not, the volume control may be dirty. Disconnect power and rotate the volume control back and forth several times to dislodge any dirt on the volume wiper inside the radio, and try again. Make sure that the Ext Spk jack does not have a plug inserted as it will defeat the internal speaker. Likewise, if using an external speaker, make sure it works.Good luck!

HI,
I would guess that you have a bad audio chip or a bad component in the audio circuit ( most likely the chip ). I am assuming, from your discription that the sound is muffled? If you are infact getting bleedover from other channels, you may have a bad crystal or a bad PLL Chip. I hope this has helped.
