Astaic 36L. You never want to run a power Mike with a good radio with Mic Gain. Road King is great to. It is very hard to find the honey spot with a power Mike when you have Mike gain on radio.I think it is pretty hard to beat the 36L. I use one one my Connex 4600 Turbo and Galaxy 95T2, They both performe great. Connex is a little better a DX ing though

First , is this radio new or used ? If it is new I see no dial for talk back and if it is used then was talk back added to it ? Open the radio so you can check out trace side of the radio and look to where the speaker jacks plug in. If you see a resister soldered across them then disconnect it and your talk back is gone,unless you still want it then solder a 220 ohm resister in place of the one you removed. if the radio is out of the box new then it should be adjustable but as I look at the face I see no knob marked as talk back.If you ordered this radio and asked for talk back on a seperate switch then which one ? look at it and make the call as to which wires to cut and do it .

RCI is part of the Galaxy company based in San Diego, California---A call there may resolve how if possible to do this--if built into the radio it may be possible to defeat it---if someone added it then it will be a part very close to the speaker jack on rear of the unit.

SOUNDS LIKE A COLD SOLDER JOINT OR A BAD COMPONNET WHEN IT WARMS UP THATS WHEN IT STARTS ..TAKE OFF THE COVER SO THAT YOU CAN SEE THE SOLDER SIDE OF THE BOARD PUT POWER TO THE RADIO AND WHEN IT WARMS UP AND SHUTS DOWN TAKE A LITTLE PIECE OF WOOD OR PLASTIC AND PROBE ALL THE SOLDER CONNECTIONS TO CHECK FOR A COLD SOLDER JOINT IT MAY BE GRAY IN COLOR MAY NOT.. SEE IF IT GOES ON AND OFF.. IF SO RESOLDER THAT SOLDER JOINT.......IF THIS DOES NOT WORK ....PICK UP SOME FREEZE SPRAY AND SPRAY IT ON THE COMPONNETS ON THE OUTHER SIDE OF THE BOARD THIS IS WHAT A SERVICE PLACE WILL DO IF THAT DOES NOT WORK NOW BRING IT TO A SERVICE AND LET THEM SCRATCH THERE HEAD GOOD LUCK

check out the schematic first .It may be the same wiring .

Your radio needs an alignment to bring it back to specs . Check all the frequencies according to the manual and have a tech tune it for you .

If you want to talk on AM put it on AM if you want to talk on SSB then put it on SSB. Did you recently purchase this radio? You do realize you need a ham radio license to use this ?If you are on the upper ham bands you better have a license or they will come and get you .Look at the the dial that has 1 - 7 on it. Now take the owners manual and look at the diagram of the knob . It should say something about frequencies and the frequency you need to operate on is from 26.965 to 27.405 MHZ .
