JVC Everio GZ-MG21 Camcorder - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I can't preview what is being recorded
I couldn't find any information about being able to use it as a web cam. I've tried with my Samsung, and it didn't work, but I didn't get a CD with it. If you installed your CD that came with the camera, you may be able to use the drivers to hook it up to the usb port on the computer, or A/V ports on the tv. I would try it, and see what happens, couldn't hurt. Since I didn't read anything about it being able to do this, I feel it won't work, but you never know till you try. Some of the higher end cameras have this capability, but never heard about JVC being able to do this.

It's definitely an internal problem in your camera and it sounds like you don't have any warranty after 5 years. I don't have a step-by-step help guide for you since I don't know about this camcorder but in my opinion, if the camcorder is really that good, it's worth the repairs. Though HD camcorders are getting cheaper these days...

How do i download images from my jvc everio to my
Reading the manuals - Switch the camera to Play and when you connect the Camera to the PC using the USB the Camera is seen as a harddrive on the PC - and you can copy the material across to the PC
Still images are also set to record to the harddrive by default - see page 20 of the instruction manual
Page 15 describes how to change recording to the SD card

You should capture the video onto your computer using a Video capture software like WIndows movie maker(if you are using Windows) or imovie(If you are using a MAC). In movie maker you should use the capture from camera option to start
capturing.
Once thats done save the movie and you can verify if its capture correctly.

Hi,
You can download the instruction manual by clicking this
link
On the page which opens, click on the "DOWNLOAD THE MANUAL" button and follow the instructions on the next page to download the manual.
You'll require Adobe PDF Reader installed on your PC to view this manual. If it is not already installed on your PC, download it free from:

Saying lens cap on won't record!
Your iris stuck up contaminated by the grease of lens mechanism. To clean, the unit must be opened up to where you can access the lens assembly and remove the iris unit assy then the two curtain(shutter) and clean with video head cleaning solution or any alcohol base cleaning agent. Re-assemble it but test the shutter first before assembling the camera completely. To test, open the shutter(curtain) manually by your finger and must close freely once released. Also clean the surroundings for some oil near the iris unit to avoid it from coming back to the shutter.. Good Luck

In most cases, you will need to have a "fire-wire" cable to connect one end to your camera, and the other to connect the Camera.
Connect the Camera end first, then the other end to the MAC, and it should bring up the necessary MAC application, which will allow for downloading the MAC when that 'fire-wire' cable is connected.
Once you have those parts available, if you connect the camera end first, the MAC will download and save or play the video. It will bring up the appropriate MAC application, and walk you though what is necessary to use the MAC and either save, or play, what you have recorded.
Good luck.
