Zone 2 stopped working. When pressing the volume

Go into Hardware Setup, find the setting for Powered Zone 2 and ACTIVATE IT. You will lose the Surround Back speaker function when you do this. Zone 2 and Surr Back are mutually exclusive.

The amplifier after turn on after 5 seconds go to Video 1 and you can't change to other input, the amplifier don't do nothing if you turn off , the amplifier turn on againyou

The microprocessor may need to be reset. To do so, perform the following;Unplug the unit from the power source. Wait for a few minutes and then plug it back in again.Sources of the problem can be from radio interference for example, or I would suspect given the time of year you are reporting the problem, our Sun which is more of a rare incidence but peak times are during the same months as the appearance of the aurora borealis.Other causes are static electricity.

Loss treble using THX mode with BOSE acoustic mass speaker

What you are hearing is a combination of the programmed signal processing and equalization of THX mode plus performance limitations of the speakers.Your only options would be to be either change your listening positions or the positions of the speakers, so that there is a direct and unobstructed line that is on axis from your ears to the speaker drivers. Or, you can disable THX mode.

My remote is fine, but

Hi there,

It's likely that you've pressed one of the input mode buttons accidentally while changing the batteries. You've probably switched the remote for operation of a TV or DVD player or some other device.

To correct this problem, simply press the RECEIVER (TAPE/AMP) button once, then try the remote again. Pressing this button informs the remote that you wish to operate the receiver with it again. The RECEIVER button is about halfway down the left-hand side, above the TV button and below MACRO 1.

Please try this first. If the receiver still does not respond, switch the receiver off and back on again. It may have lost the communication with the remote. Resetting the receiver will usually correct this problem.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric.

Where is the hdmi cable on the tx-sr703

Sorry but this receiver has no HDMI inputs or outputs. I believe you have to step up to the TX-SR803 before you get any HDMI capabilities. Good luck.

I have an Onkyo TX-SR703

First try to set the receiver to factory default setting if you have not already done so.

To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn

it on and, while holding down the [VIDEO 1] button,

press the [STANDBY/ON] button. "Clear" will

appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter

Standby mode.

If this does not help then the protection circuit has a component or fuse failure.

You will have to download a Service manual to find the correct part and location. This will cost you a little but atleast if you do not have a warranty it will be handy. By the way are you aware that Onkyo offers 3 years warranty on the receivers. Not sure if your model is that old.

The receiver turns itself off.

The most common problem found on FixYa for Audio Video Receiver's is:

My receiver say's "Protect" or turns on then off. What's wrong? Seven times out of ten it is a shorted speaker or speaker wire. To determine your exact problem, the first step is to disconnect all speaker wires "at your receiver" Next: Turn the receiver back on. If your receiver still says "protect" or turns off, it needs to be serviced. If your receiver stays on; reconnect your speakers one at a time and power back up after each speaker. You may find that after reconnecting all speaker wires it works! Most commonly the small braids of wire from the + to the - have touched and have caused the problem. In some instances, you noticed the problem only when turning the volume up. either way, make sure the exposed wires to your receiver are no longer than 1/2" long and are completely under the screw down terminal or slide in. When you've found the wire or speaker with the problem, your receiver will go back into "protect" At this point, disconnect the wire from the speaker at the speaker that may be causing the problem then test again.* Note* Make sure speaker wires do Not touch each other as this Will cause a short! If you turn the receiver back on and it stays on, you now know the problem is in your speaker itself. To test your speaker, you will need a multimeter. Set it to ohms resistance and touch the speaker terminals, if there is a short internally the meter will read "1......" If it's an analog meter, it will peg to the right. There's your problem. Now, within any speaker there are quite a few possibilities as to what could be causing the problem. Most common is a blown coil and the speaker needs to be replaced. Some speakers have internal crossovers (usually floor standing speakers) and may have a shorted or burnt board (usually very visible brown burn marks on the board) and can possibly be repaired if your handy with a soldering iron. Now, if you disconnect the speaker wire at the speaker and it still says "protect" Check your wire for the obvious cut or nail thru the wire if possible. If your system has wiring that runs behind walls, you may need to use your meter again. Disconnect the wire at both ends, keep the ends separated, put your meter on ohms resistance and touch probes to the + and - wires at one side. If the meter pegs to the right or reads "1...." the wire is shorted and needs to be replaced or repaired at the short. Hope this helps.

Sound problem, zone 2 speakers work only

A soft reset might help; with the system on, hold down the VCR button and then Standby. The screen will read "Clear" and then turn off. When you turn it back on it is supposed to be just like it came from the factory.
