On my new juki 1541 to the left of the thread

Usually, if there is spring mechanism on or near the thread tensioner, that spring is an integral part to the tension system. Sounds to me like it is not being threaded correctly. Juki 1541 threading Google Searchor you might try talking to your Juki dealer.

Upper thread keeps shreading on juki 1541

Without seeing your manual it's hard to tell for sure, but it is likely that your needle and thread combo is causing the problem. Another thing can be a burr or nick on the presser foot or needle plate. First change change the needle to a different one in size 18. If it still shreds we no it is probably the needle... size up to a 20. If it works... you are good to go. If that doesn't work... take off the presser foot and examine the needle plate for burrs, stab marks, chips. Also examine the presser foot. If you find a defect carefully smooth that with some very fine sand paper. and try sewing again. Good luck

Why my juki 1541S is puckering

What kind of material are you using and what kind of thread? I have this machine and it is wonderful. If the needle and the thread are too big for the material being sewn, the material will pucker. Go to a smaller stitch, thread or needle one at a time and see what works. It's possible that either the top or bottom tension is set too tight but if it wasn't doing it before, I would try these other things before I changed my tensions. Also sometimes I completely unthread my upper thread and rethread my machine, in case some lint has gotten caught in a tension or a thread has kinked around one of the places I am not looking. Lastly, take the two screws out of your needle plate and take it off and either blow the lint out of the feed dogs or use your vacuum to vacuum the lint out. While you have your plate off, check the needle hole that is in the plate to make sure it is smooth. If you have broken a needle or something, it can make a groove in the side of the needle hole and it will catch your thread on each stitch and make it gather up. If there is a groove, you will need to buy a piece of emery tape and file it till it is smooth again. Then reassemble your machine and hopefully you won't have the problem anymore!

I would like instructions on how to set different stitch lengths on my Juki 1541-S.

Puckering is typically NOT a tension problem. But rather a bad needle or not the right needle for the project and thread. Sometimes it's uneven feed but since your 1541 is a walking foot you might have to get the feed timed. I know little about that. I would first look at the recommended needle thread combo for the fabric. Then the presser foot tension. Good luck.

Juki dnu-1514s The machine is threaded

Your bobbin system isn't engaged. this can happen for several reasons, mostly when things are a little out of whack. The 1541 has a 'clutch' it located near center on the bottom surface and is a silver circle below the 'arm'. Bring the needle all the way down, now push the clutch and hold while you turn the wheel back (top away from you) eventually the clutch will click when everythings aligned and engage the bobbin system again.
