Singer CG754 Mechanical Sewing Machine Questions & Answers
My bobbin case came out
I just had this same problem and although i could not find the answer online, I managed to fix it.
If you look at the bobbin case there are 3 different tabs sticking out.First you need to have tab #1 under the main part of the machine, and #3 over top of the small twisted metal piece below the bottom fabric gripper. The hard part is to get the second tab into the proper spot. I circled the piece that you need to move in red. If you move the little piece by pushing it with a flat screw driver, you can line up the bobbin case so that tab #2 is under the metal piece and the bobbin case will be properly set.Don't give up! It wasn't easy to get it back but I did it, I'm sure you can too!
GC 500/550 not pulling bobbin
some sewing machines can not sew denim good,
here are some suggestions
since a needle was broken & replaced--if the needle has a flat side it goes to the back of the machine
make sure the needle is inserted correctly & pushed up inside of the needle holder & the needle screw tightened correctly
is the correct needle being used for the thread & fabric being sewed?
when sewing denim, a denim needle is needed, I usually purchase mine at walmart, I have 2 necchi sewing machines & the denim needles work just fine on my machines.
if none of the above suggestions help then the machine could be out of time, just because of a broken needle. only a repair shop has the correct tool to fix this problem
Janome Harmony footpedal doesn't respond when pressed.
It sounds like you have a wire off inside the footpedal. If it won't work when you press it but, it will start on it's own, the wire is bouncing around inside the foot pedal box. It should either clip onto or be held in place by a screw. Other than this, it could be a broken wire, most likely where the wire comes out of the foot pedal, but this probably isn't the problem or, you need to call Ghost Busters.

Have a look at this website.
If they do not have the manual you want email them and they will help.
The looping problem is the bottom tension is to slack, on the same website look at the repair section and it explains how to adjust the bobbin tension.

Things to try:
1. New needle.
2. Make sure the needle is put in the correct way (there are fronts and backs to the needles).
3. Make perfectly sure that your bobbin is put into the bobbin case correctly (the thread going clock or counter-clock wise as indicated in the directions)
4. Make sure your bobbin thread is wound through the case and out as indicated by the directions
(these points vary DRASTICALLY by model of machine and brand).
5. Holding about 4 or 5 inches of top thread, rotate the flywheel (on the far right of your machine) by hand (don't use the footpedal). The needle should go down, it's thread creates a loop, and the bobbin thread loops through that loop; as you continue to rotate the flywheel, the needle will come back up, bringing its own thread AND the bobbin thread. This is when the machine is ready to sew (when both threads are up).
6. If your machine has been moved around and not very gently, then it is possible that the bobbin case and housing have been jostled out of alignment. If that's the case, then you'll need an experienced sewer to look at it for you - mostly that's a case of minor adjustment.
If you remember that the needle is flying up and down thousands of times in a minute, then having all these elements in perfect alignment makes sense.
Even experienced sewists get stumped with this, especially when working with a new machine.
Can't work lever to raise foot on Singer sewing machine
Presser Foot Release Lever:
First, check if the presser foot release lever is functioning properly. Sometimes, it may be stuck or not engaging correctly. Make sure it moves freely and isn't obstructed.
If it's not working, try slackening the presser foot tension using the dial on top of the machine. If that doesn't help, you might need to adjust the presser bar slightly.
Presser Bar Adjustment:
If the presser bar was loose to begin with, completely slacken off the pressure.
Put the presser foot up using the lever, then slacken off the screw on the bar and adjust the presser bar as needed.
Handwheel Stuck:
If the handwheel is stuck, it could be due to issues with gears, cams, or other internal mechanisms.
Inspect the machine's casing or access panel for any signs of damage, such as broken teeth on gears or misaligned cams.
Thread Take-Up Lever:
If the take-up lever isn't moving up and down even when you manually turn the handwheel, check the hand clutch.
Tighten and adjust the inner portion of the wheel on the right side of your machine and the hand clutch.
If these don't do the job, you might consult Singer's customer service or a repair shot.
My Singer 312 won't go back to a straight stitch. Any ideas? TIA
Inspect the Stitch Width Control: The stitch width control determines how wide the zigzag stitch is. If it's set to a wide zigzag, the machine will remain in that mode. Adjust the stitch width control to the narrowest setting (usually zero) for straight stitching.
Clean and Lubricate: Dust, lint, or debris can interfere with the machine's mechanisms. Turn off the machine, unplug it, and clean the bobbin area, feed dogs, and needle plate. Lubricate any moving parts according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Check the Needle Position: Make sure the needle is centered. If it's off-center, the machine may default to zigzag mode. Adjust the needle position if needed.
Test with a New Needle: A bent or dull needle can cause stitching issues. Replace the needle with a new one and ensure it's compatible with your machine.
Reset the Machine: Turn off the machine, unplug it, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the internal settings.
Consult the Manual: Refer to your Singer 312 sewing machine's manual for specific troubleshooting steps related to zigzag issues. The manual may provide additional insights or solutions.
The needle and hand wheel on my singer 140q are both jammed. There were no issues with the bobbin or case, no jams there. I can still wind a bobbin on top but once I switch it back to sew the needle and hand wheel are still stuck. No busted belts either.
If both the needle and the hand wheel on your Singer 140Q sewing machine are jammed, it indicates a more serious issue that likely requires attention. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the problem:
1. Turn Off the Machine: Start by turning off the sewing machine and unplugging it from the power source. This ensures safety while you troubleshoot the issue.
2. Check for Obstructions: Inspect the area around the needle and hand wheel for any obstructions such as broken needles, tangled thread, or debris. Remove any obstructions carefully.
3. Rotate the Hand wheel: Gently try to rotate the hand wheel manually. If it's stuck, avoid forcing it as this could cause further damage. Instead, try to identify what's causing the jam by examining the mechanism closely.
4. Inspect the Bobbin Area: Open the bobbin case and remove the bobbin. Check for any tangles of thread or debris that could be causing the jam. Clean the bobbin area thoroughly.
5. Check the Needle: Remove the needle and inspect it for any damage. Replace the needle if it's bent, dull, or damaged in any way.
6. Oil the Machine: Lubrication is important for smooth operation. Apply a drop of sewing machine oil to the moving parts, such as the hand wheel shaft and other points indicated in your machine's manual.
7. Professional Inspection: If you're unable to resolve the issue on your own, consider taking your sewing machine to a qualified technician for inspection and repair. They can diagnose the problem accurately and perform any necessary repairs.
Attempting to force the machine to work when it's jammed can potentially cause further damage. So, proceed with caution and prioritize safety while troubleshooting the issue.
Singer Futura CE 150. I bought a used carriage unit attachment for it and the it drags really hard. It won't move at all while on the machine or when I take it off. Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks
Question edited for clarity.
Do you mean the embroidery unit. If it is secondhand and has been stored for a long time, sewing machine oil, or worse WD40 goes 'gummy'. You would need to clean all the out. WD40 is a good solvent, so spray, leave it to soak, spray again and agitate with a brush. The wash it all off with hot soapy water. Dry thoroughly and after a few days, lubricate metal parts with sewing machine oil and any plastic parts with a dry silicone spray like Jigaloo. Test Jigaloo on a flat piece of plastic first as it is also a powerful fast drying solvent.
