Singer 7442 Mechanical Sewing Machine Questions & Answers
I have a singer futura
Most likely the needle threader is out of normal position. The threaders are pretty delicate mechanisms and can be bent easily.
Singer 7442 the bobbin casing keeps popping out of position. how do it fix it?
When that happens, it is generally because it was not inserted correctly, and that's easy enough to do. Another possibility is the thread is not threaded properly
First, go to the Singer site and download your machine's manual -- it's free. A bobbin case has a flat part that goes under the needle. On the right side towards the bottom, it has a tab that sticks out that must rest against a spring, and prevents the case from spinning -- it must be stationary when sewing. When inserting a bobbin case, I find it helpful to put it down slightly to the right, then twist it so the flat part is under the needle, and the tab is resting against the spring. Also, verify that the case is even on all sides -- it's quite possible to insert it so that it's not resting flat in the basket (holds the case). You have to look closely to see it, though. There's drawings of it in your manual.

Cleaning my 7444 Singer
I recommend a Maintenance; they clean and oil and look for things that are worn and about to jam.
How can I replace bobbin case on Singer Inspiration 4220
Download the instruction manual free from the Singer Sewing Machine site, and go to page 62. It will show you how to reinsert your bobbin case.
The flat part goes UNDER the needle; there is a projection on the right side of the case towards the bottom that must rest against a silver part that is actually a cushion spring and prevents it from spinning. It's pictured in the manual.
It's helpful when reinserting it to insert it slightly clockwise of where it should go--that is, placing the flat part slightly to the right, then twisting it counterclockwise into the correct position, with the case's projecting resting against the spring.
How do i disengage the needle for bobbin on the 7742?
By pushing the spindle that is holding the bobbin on the top of the machine towards the right.
I found that out by going to the Singer Sewing Machine site and downloading your instruction manual; it is pictured and explained on pages 14 and 15. If you will download and read it, you will find it is most helpful.

Bobbin Winder
I looked in the manual for this machine, and I can't find out what "E2" means to your machine. However, there IS a list of FAQ at the back of the manual that is generally helpful. The first thing I would do, though, is turn off the machine, push the bobbin winder spindle all the way to the right to engage it, then firmly push it to the left. When you engage the bobbin winder, it activates a clutch that diverts power to the winder; that clutch might not be totally disengaged. Also, make sure your buttonhole lever is all the way up, and you have not selected the twin needle function. You might want to contact Singer through their FB account and ask what E2 means.
I have a Singer Model 9022 sewing machine. The
Kent581 is correct. On my machine the metal part the bobbin case needed to be under could pivot. It had turned so that when I put it in like normal the case wasn't under anything. I simply had to turn it back and everything was good to go!
