Trying to sew curtains!!!! Been

check both upper & lower tensions
also check your needle to see if it's bent-roll on a flat surface to see if it rolls correctly
if the needle is blunt-it makes a popping sound when it penetrates the fabric
also check the bobbin area for lint & loose thread-some fabric produces more lint than others
make sure the bobbin isn't warped
make sure that the bobbin is correctly in the bobbin case & that the bobbin case is correctly inserted in the machine

My presser foot lever wont

Make sure that your needle is in the highest position, turn your handwheel towards you, not away from or else you will mess up the timing

Top thread isnt picking up

Use a fresh needle and make sure that you place the flat side to the rear when you insert it. Use a coin to turn the needle screw. Also, get a free downloaded manual from www.singerco.com

My bobbin winds loosley

This means the thread is not pulling to the winder fast enough. Check the tension silver knob that guides the thread to the bobbin. It may be too tight.

hope that helps!

Hand wheel on Kenmore model 1345 sewing machine

Take the bobbin and bobbin case out first of all and check for any minute pieces of thread stuck, lightly poil with WD40, find out where the squeak is, very important otherwise the machine may seize and it will cost a lot of money, oil all moving parts lightly

The casing that the bobbin sits in is out how do I

put the bobbin in its case then pull some thread out and pass it thru the bobbin case slot and under the tension spring .. put the bobbin and case over the shaft that is in the main unit .. the open side of the case goes in first .. make sure the bobbin doesnt fall out .. rotate the bobbin case until its finger lines up with the notch in the main case .. the bobbin case should latch in place on the shaft notch .. place the top thread under and to the back of the pressure foot then turn the machine one turn .. that will loop the top thread around the bottom (bobbin) thread ... now use a card or screwdriver to push both threads from under the pressure foot toward the back of the machine ..

Top thread bunching under fabric when sewing

tension could be too loose. start with bobbin tension- should allow thread to pass with SLIGHT resistance. then adjust top tension at about 2-3 to start.
