I have a sewing machine
For Singer machines, you can look it up by serial number on their website at http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_numbers.html
If you are sure the model number is 7462, the serial number should be located near the bottom of the back side of the machine.

I have an old Singer
"Birdnesting" occurs when there is no tension on the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. This is easily corrected by rethreading the machine, following the threading path carefully and making sure the thread is fully engaged in the tension mechanism.

PFAFF 362 Sewing Machine:
The shift
Remove the top cover (grasp and lift straight up), spray with "Tri-Flow, liberally inside. Pay attention to the right 1/2 and behind the front dials.
In Front, each dial has a small square opening on the side, use the tube included with the "Tri-flow" to squirt lube inside them. DO NOT use WD-40.
Run the machine daily for 5-10 minutes (set the dial "C" [top front that goes up to 8] to 0 also set the dial on top of the case to 0. Move the Zig-Zag lever (upper right) from 0 to 4 and back again. Respray with Tri-flow. After a couple of days, if it is still stuck place a hair-dryer or light nearby to warm it up to skin temp.
Between the temp and the oil, it should begin working.

Machine beeps and won't sew when buttonhole
I just figured out how to use the buttonhole feature today. Make sure where you insert the button is towards the back of the machine. Pull down the button hole lever and make sure it's between to two plastic notches. The buttonhole lever will actually be pressed against notch B as described in the instructions. Insert your material and let the bottonhole foot down. You will to play with the stitch width and length to get the right size opening. I hope this helps!

How do i thread my bobbin on my singer merritt
Run the thread around the little silver knob on the top of the machine to the bobbin threader on the top right. Wrap the thread clockwise around the bobbin a few times and then pull the bobbin threader toward the silver bar. If you put your hand on the crank wheel, you will feel a place for your finger to set. Push there and the center of the crank wheel will sideways allowing you to thread the bobbin when you press the pedal. I'm sure my terminology doesn't make any sense.

In order to clear this message , you need to clean the bobbin case ...and turn the machine on and off.
Check the bobbin winder shaft. If it is pushed over when you try to run the machine you may get the error.

I am sewing on demim.
The manual can be downloaded for free from Singer's web site...
Are you seeing loops of the upper thread on the bottom side? If so, then the bobbin tension is too tight, or the upper tension is too loose. The threaded shaft on the upper tension might have stripped, leaving you with no adjustability.
