LG Heat cool Window Air Conditioner - Page 5 Questions & Answers
Icing up of unit
When you clean the Ac unit, Make sure to take the Unit completly out and clean both the condensor coil as well as the Evaporator coil.
If you are able to run the unit with it out of the window. See if there are any service ports connected to the unit (Guage hook ups), or any OIL spots where is looks dark, (Checking to see) if its leaking.
Wasnt sure how you cleaned the unit, So just make sure both coils are cleaned well with water, and make sure to avoid getting to much water into the Electronics.

Heater smell when AC comes on...
The fan that blows the air blows through the heater coils before it blows through the A/C.As long as the heater doesn't come on, there is not much that can be done. ZCooking the attic room will be a problem because it is the heat rises thing, and on top(literally) of it all, the roof is radiating heat.
Frig stopped running.
Maybe over pulling more amps the the GFCI curcuit can handle. Check all the GFCI plug and verify if there are anything else plugged in. Including hair dryers and / or flat irons.
Excessive Leak
Remove the plug and tilt the AC slightly downward on the outside so the water will flow outside where it is supposed to go. Thanks, Sea Breeze
1.5T Voltas Vetris window AC. Ice formation
I think the more likely problem is that the unit is slightly short of gas\ refrigerant, which is a common cause of icing up evaporator coils and this sound you describe. First check that the air filter is clean. Another cause could be the defrost sensor is faulty, but I would think not. Some ice isn't actually a bad thing, but quite common as long as it doesn't form over too much of the coil, or get too thick.
Window air condition (LG)
Your coils could be dirty. Also try cleaning the air filter. I am not familar with your exact model but there will be a filter behind the plastic grill. Most of them pull out from the top or bottom of the case. As for the coils get a can of A/C coil cleaner from your local hardware store and follow the directions. Most of the time these two things will get your unit working again.
Ac do not drop down the tempture of room.
I have the same problem. Sounds like the unit is stuck in "Dry Mode". Dry Mode runs the compressor for short intervals (like one minute at a time). Mine is only 2 months old and worked great until a few days ago.
LG AC compressor problem
Compressor may be locking up. Run capacitor may be weak or loose wire. Sounds like major voltage drop off as unit head pressure increases.
My ac stops after one hour and yellow and green
How to Check Your Air Conditioner Before Calling...
[Edit]
Steps:
1. Change your filter regularly. This simple step alone can increase the efficiency of your air conditioner. It will also run less, increasing the life span of your equipment.
2. Wash your condenser coil regularly. Simply turn off your air conditioner, get a garden hose, and spray the coil using an "up/down" pattern. Be particularly attentive if your condenser is close to a dryer vent, or if your neighborhood is full of cottonwood trees. These two items are "air conditioner killers".
3. Look for ice around your condenser. If there is ice around the copper lines, immediately turn off your air conditioner and call for service.
4. Is the condenser and/or furnace operating at all? If not, check breakers and fuses.
Tips:
1. Maintaining your air conditioner and having it serviced regularly increases the efficiency of your unit, reduces energy usage, and prevents wear and tear on your equipment.
2. These instructions need to be modified slightly for window or "through the wall" type units.
Warnings:
1. Do not attempt any repair work unless you are a licensed heating and air conditioning technician. Most states require a licensed heating and air conditioning contractor to perform any repair work.
2. Do not attempt to add or remove refrigerant from your system unless you are licensed by the EPA. Fines and penalties await
those who tamper with or release refrigerant in an unsafe or unapproved fashion.
3. Do not attempt to diagnose any electrical problem unless you have been properly trained and/or are licensed.
4. Do not immediately assume that if your air conditioner is not working that the thermostat is at fault. Tampering with the thermostat
or is related wiring can cause more problems than you initially started with. If nothing is happening with the thermostat set,
mmediately call for service.
5. Do not bend the "fins" on the outside of the condenser. Make certain to wash the coils in an "up/down" fashion.
6. When in doubt, stop. Immediately call a licensed heating and air conditioning contractor.

Ice formation in the indoor unit
you need to have the unit checked for the amount of freon in the system this must be done with a gauge set the freon amount is obviously incorrect
also the a-frame evaporator must be sealed in the furnace cabinet
