LG 42PX4DV - HDMI Audio / PC Audio IN problem
I found the fix. Had the same problem.I right clicked on the sound speaker icon in the bottom right of Windows 7.Chose Playback Devices.Once this window opens, then make sure you are on the Playback tab.Scroll down until you see the HDMI Device. (Mine was hidden at the bottom of the list.)Then choose "set as default".The sound will begin playing on the TV with only the HDMI connected......no need for an extra audio cable.

Screen glitters when tv gets
Only option is to install an internal fan to cool the plasma. This is caused by the extreme heat made by the plasma tvs. It is overheating.
Thank you and best of luck!
The LG 42px4dv-aa States that
Your TV is telling you that the network cable company or free air is not broadcasting their programs in HD. Just because they have didgital programming doesn't mean that it is HD programming.
No audio out on hdmi with desktop
Chances are your desktop doesn't support audio through HDMI. Try to find a spec sheet for the unit you have, an upgrade may be possible
Remote control does not work altho tested ok
There are two parts in the TV that could be causing this issue. It is either a defective IR board in the TV or defective main board. The IR sensor on the IR board picks up the signal from the TV and sends it to the main board that decodes it.
It is also possible there is a loose connection form the IR board and main board. The only way to check which of the above mention failures is causing the remote control not to work is to check the voltages along the line with a digital multimeter to match the ones in the service manual.
Cannot tune in channel 88
Open menu function auto search channels. Should restore them.Although could be remote problem Change batteriesthey could simply be weak. or the number 8 has gone out on it.

Here you go fella, i had the same problem! Enjoy:
LG 42PX4DV Sky Code is: 0206
Thin line down the screen
This will be a fault within the screen, the only way to repair it is by having a replacement screen fitted which can be costly if it is not still under warranty.
Which is the best high definition television& why.
It depends on your needs really. I enjoy the sharpest piture. So I choose DLP tlevisions. They have a downside. They are about 13' thick. But the resolutuion is almost twice as good as an LCD. A LCD gives you excellent picture quality, and is very thin. Averages about 4". You want a television that has a refresh rate of 120hz or higher. Sony just introduced a model that has a 240hz refresh rate. This is advantagous for sports fans becuse the refresh rate is critical. If it has less than 120 hz then the faster the oblect moves on the screen, there will be a little blur. Any 1080p HD television is going to give you a superb picture. The brand is purely a loyalty issue. Sony Bravia LCD's seem to have a very low rate of problems. And they are very affordable. I enjoy DLP better because I am more into watching movies, and they have the purest colr/picture with no possability of "burn in" Plasma is the WORST choice. They are prctically unserviceable. Or, they cost too much to service. Sometimes itis cheaper to buy a new plasma than to have one repaired. The only draw back on my DLP is that I have to replace the bulb at about 100.00 every 4,000 hours of viewing. Dlp's are also famous for having color wheel issues. After a copule of years they will start to make a metallic screech, or hum. But If you purchase a 5 year warranty they get replaced for free. As long as you buy a 1080p TV with a 120hz refresh rate or higher, you will be VERY satisfied. And you will have the latest in technology.
Getting a HD Picture on MY LG Plasma
Have you made sure the box is set to send a HDTV signal to your LG? Example 720p, 1080i, or 1080p? You usually have to set the resolution in the v+.
LG 42PX4DV- black and white through external imputs only
Hello freudianslip,
Since you said that you moved the TV set and then this problem occurred, this leads me to believe that this is a case of mechanical failure (cold solder connections). I say this because so rarely does moving a TV cause a failure in the electronics of the TV.
Now to fix this problem one might suggest that you take a soldering iron and some solder and start locating the possible cold solder connections and touch them up. I will not suggest that, because most sets now have SMCs (surface mounted components) which require specialized equipment to remove or to refinish soldering work, even with the right equipment there is a chance of doing real damage to the TV set.
I say, since you know the approximate area of the problem (DVD inputs RCA Ports), you should relay this to a qualified TV repair person and then have them troubleshoot and repair this problem. I know this was not what you wanted to hear since this is a fix it yourself site, however as a owner of a TV repair shop I have had many people bring their sets in after effecting repairs on complicated electronics because someone gave good advise, but the skill level of the TV owner was not up to the level of the person giving the advise.
One the off chance that this is an electronics problem my guess would be the video processor section, in which case taking it to a TV repair shop is a wise decision also for the same reasons mentioned above.
I hope this helps
Thank you,
