Sorry to hear you have a C-14a3 code.
In my experience, this code spells disaster for the 161f.
The image reader has failed. The part can be replaced, but the cost would almost outweigh the cost of replacing the machine.
I have personally had to deal with two 161f with the same code.
Both times we changed the machine (because it was on contract).

Reset all settings to factory defaults./
Press power button for 10 seconds then start again.
Then go to printer menu settings and reset all settings.
Also pull ink cartridges and check there is not any paper jam .
Clean all dust from all parts.
