Maxtor 8J073L002 3.5 SCSI 73GB 15K 68-PIN 364325-002 Mfr P/N 8J07 Questions & Answers
Can i fix a maxtor drive 8j073l002 to a z 400 workstastion
I would get a copy of the specs from HP's website (download is
free) and see if there is an option for ANY " SCSI" drive or maybe
a "converter" for SCSI to IDE or SATA conversions. SCSI is NOT
a standard for most consumer/business applications. Usually used
in equipment designed for; high end graphics and video editing use
due to complex nature. To convert video to digital - requires a process
called "rendering" which makes the "new" format read-able by standard equipment. The HP Z400 unit - might NOT have that option.

Maxtor External Hard Drive No Power
I assume it is a USB connection? Does it also have a power adaptor or a USB dongle that has 2 USB connectors? If you cannot get it to power up, the only other option to retrieve your data is to take the HD out of the case and connect it to a PC or laptop using a SSD or SATA to USB adapter and see if you can get the PC to recognize it.
I got a new computer and need to install Maxtor on my new machine. How do I do thei?
If you mean the Maxtor disk utility that comes with raw hard drives, it is NOT necessary to install this in order for the drive to work. If the new computer already has an OS on it and is working, what part of the Maxtor utility is it that you think you need? The OS has all the tools you would need to work with the disk. Or you could always download a 3rd party app to do the specific task. If this is regarding an external drive, again the new computer ( and OS) will have whatever tools you would need to work with the disk. In fact you should only have to plug the external disk into the USB port and the new computer will find it and ask how you want to use it, etc. The Maxtor disk utilities that came with raw drives is pretty much obsolete when used with a current Windows or Mac OS.
