How to transfer Nikon Coolpix camera pictures to memory card?

Make sure you have an SD memory card inserted and your camera is on. Press the Play button to view your images. Now press menu and scroll down to the copy feature. You have two options, copy from camera to memory card is on top, and from memory card to camera is on the bottom.  Once you select your option, choose your pictures and copy.

Regards,
Lardzor.

How to transfer images from computer to nikon coolpix

I don't understand why you would want to transfer pictures from the computer to the camera. Normally you transfer pictures from the camera to the computer. But, if you really want to restore pictures to your camera's memory, you can remove the SD memory card from your camera and transfer the pictures on any computer equipped with an SD card reader/writer. These devices are built into most Apple computers, many PC's and are available as USB accessories for all other computers. I have seen them for under $20. When you connect the device and insert your camera's SC card, your computer will recognize the card and treat it as if it were another hard drive. You will be able to read or write or drag and drop picture files just as you would with any other file on your computer. By the way; most professional photographers use this method to transfer there photos rather then transferring them using a USB cable from the camera.

Memory card protected

What type and size memory card? The 4100 works with SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards, even though they will fit into the slot. If you are using an SD card, take a look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

What sftware is needed for the coolpix s4100 to transfer pictures to my computer?

You don't need any special software. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa or Nikon Transfer.

Won't charge

The 4100 is a camera, not a battery charger. Connecting the camera to a computer's USB port is only going to drain the batteries faster, since the camera has to use juice to communicate with the computer (even if only to say it has nothing to say).If you're using an EN-MH1 rechargeable battery pack, you must charge it using a separate MH-71 battery charger. If you're using rechargeable AA batteries, you must charge them using an appropriate battery charger.

Also check the contact points of battery and camera and clean it. Insert the battery and charge it fully. When the battery gets charged fully then press the power button 4 to 5 times to start it.
