Polaroid FLM-3732 Television - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Capacitor size
Sure- that's the maximum rating. In fact, if Polaroid had used 35v rated caps in the first place, we probably wouldn't all be replacing them.
BTW another replacement that worked perfectly here.

Black box comes up on tv screen
The black box is a text box for closed captioning. Some stations send the signal which turns on the box while not actually broadcasting any text. Go into your setup menu and turn off closed captioning, or at least change it to a different mode. The easiest option is to restore factory presets.

Dvd player does not hold a charge ( has a new battery )
take a voltmeter and test charger or borrow a known good one from a friend if you know anyone who has one , sounds like bad charger word--- it is much better to run all rechargeable devices mostly all the way down before recharging as these batteries will do what is know as establish memory and will shorten battery life do not leave on charge except when charge is needed

Polaroid FLM 3732 No lights or anything
There are microchips theses days that can burn out easy on power boards. A large sturdy transformer could be used instead, in the design, but transformers cost big bux in comparison to microchips. Don't blame your TV manufacturer for using cheaper parts. They have a profit margin to maintain.

Lcd tv black screen control box no power fix - FLM-4034B
When I looked on the board, they all looked fine so I changed 5 of them chosen arbitrarily (the one that best matched the description on the website) but no success, I will try this week end to change the others (I did not have enough caps). I found a way to test them with a meter but it is hard and unreliable to do it when they are still attached to the circuit:
The best would be to have a meter that can test specifically the caps, but if like me you don't have one, use the Ohm-meter mode to charge them then very quickly switch to volt-meter (be careful not to choose a tension too high that would fry your caps). You should see a tension really quickly dropping if the caps is still linked to the board. I found this technique on the internet, I don't know if it is really reliable.
I will try on this week-end to change the caps of the other kind on the board then I will tell you if I got lucky.
By the way, a few weeks ago when I called polaroid they told me they were about to change their policy about their TV so I think you should check that before you decide to destroy it with an axe or get a new TV.

Polaroid LCD has Flourescent Lights and a Blurry Screen
okay I just got mine to work. All I did was: click menu on my remote control, go to setup, go to the very bottom where it says "Default" and press ok on the remote. Everything went back to the default settings and worked.
If the audio still doesnt work, go to menu, audio tab, down to MTS system and hit right or left on the remote to change the audio setup.
