Polaroid FLM-3732 Television turns on then off

A common problem with this television is the power unit. Some of the capacitors go out on them within 2 years. You can buy a replacement power unit for about $150 or if you know how to use a soldering gun you can purchase the capacitors for about $5 and fix the unit yourself.

I just fixed my Polaroid 3732 and it cost me $3.49. I would push the power button and the standby light would come on but the picture would not appear. After I changed the capacitors it starts right up.

Not getting power on model FLM3732

You can buy the capacitors on Amazon.com. Search for 1000uf 25v (you need 2 of these) and 1000uf 35v (one of these).

Here is a video you can use that will give you the step by step.

I turn the TV and nothing. A black screen. The

I suspect you may have 2 capacitors in your control module that need to be replaced. When these caps start to go bad it will often show up as a problem with the sound. However, when they get really bad they can prevent the TV from turning on. Please see the link below, posted by stiv0. It gives detailed instructions on how to replace these caps and to tell if they're getting bad. If you follow these instructions you can take the back off the TV and check out the caps. If the tops of the caps are bulging they need to be replaced. Just be sure to replace them with the correct value (1000uf) and use caps that are rated at a higher voltage than the originals. I replace the 10v caps in my FLM 373B with 30V caps just to be on the safe side. If you know how to solder this is an easy and inexpensive fix. If you don't know how to solder find a friend who does. These caps have positive and negative terminals. It's important you solder the new caps in with the correct polarity. Stiv0 gives instructions on this. Even if the caps aren't bulging this fix is so inexpensive, less than 10$, that you may want to try it anyway. I hope this helps you out.

any sound? Try holding a strong light against the screen when it is on and try and see if there is a faint picture. If there is a faint picture, then it is a backlight problem.

We have a Polaroid TV, Model FLM3732. When we turn

The high pitch you are hearing is probably due to failing electrolytic capacitors in the power supply module. Eventually this will no longer function. A tell tale sign would be swollen caps "tops are convex" on this pc board usually 1000mf 25 v caps or simular. I would refer to competent tech for repair of module to component level.

Humming noise through Tv speakers. Goes away if I

If the noise is coming in through the onboard tuner then repair may the only option. If you have a DVD or VCR and can connect the line level inputs (look like stereo connections) then do so and use that input, if the sound persists there then it is likely the audio circuitry - also a repair item.
Bypassing the TV sound system involves connecting your cable box, DVD or VCR (using the tuner from that unit select channels) audio output to a stereo system and then the TV becomes a big monitor (picture only)

Polaroid 3700 lcd (2006): Every time it is turned

Hello: This is a problem with the power supply unit, There are two capacitors that need to be replaced in this unit. They are the two 1000uf 10V Capacitors that is failing on the power supply, If you take off the back there is a metal module in the center of the unit, lf you open it the power supply is located towards the upper part of the system. Look at the capacitors for puffy and swollen tops, just in case you don't know what capacitors look like they look like tall batteries mounted vertically on the board with metal type tops. If you run your hand across the top of them they should all be flat. Look for the two swollen ones and replace. The Value on the Capaictors should say around 1000uf at 10V. Replace with 1000uf at 16V. The reason you television is malfunctioning is that these caps are leaky.
