I hooked my laptop up the to my tv the other day
Common problem with Polaroid 32 and 37" television. Problem is most likely the control board, at cost of around $400. physically disconnect power to television. keep disconnected for 30 min. Plug TV back in and turn on. That may fix the problem temporarily, but more problems are sure to come...

Program remote to a direct tv reciever
You are most likely out of luck using these as universal remotes. You are better off purchasing a Logitech remote and programing it for the Polaroid and your Directv box.

Not turning on, is dead
If you are capable of repairing electronics, there are 2 capacitiors in the FLM3232 sets that commonly leak and need to be repalced. They cause no picture symptoms but, the power indicator usually turns blue as normal. If you would like a photo of the 2 caps to check email me at

Polaroid FLM-3232 Just went black had burnig smell
LCD sets are backlit by a special color temperature fluorescent lamp assembly, usually built into the display itself and not replacable for most brands. There are no "light bulbs" to replace in flat panel units.
The failure you described is a serious one. A burning smell often means the main power supply or display buffer drives shorted somewhere. The display or lamp could also be shorted out (rare) , but you might find a damaged backlight power supply (not rare).
Just changing the affected board (s) may not be your only problem, as there could be shorts elsewhere that caused the failure to begin with. Proper power precautions are needed from blowing the new board the second you fire the set up.
Only thing I could recommend is find a FACTORY AUTHORIZED repair center and find out what's wrong. They would have quick access to parts and resources for engineering support directly from the manufacturer. It's best to find one with a reasonable estimate charge and make sure that charge is credited to your final bill should you decide to have it repaired.

Polaroid flm-3232 locked or in sleep mode? Is that possible
Hi there!
I work in an electronics store and I've come across this problem before. The only solution that has ever worked for the people who call in or come to see us is pretty simple. You need to unplug your PC from the TV (if you haven't already done so), turn the TV on by using the "channel +" button. Some TV's when turned off at the wall will not turn back on again unless you press the channel + button. Give it a go and see what happens. Let me know if you need more help.
Also, it sounds like your laptop may not have been supported due to the wrong resolution being outputted through your VGA connection. When you get your TV turned on again I'll see if I can help you get them to work together,
Cheers and good luck!
Abby.

Polaroid LCD HDTV wont turn on....HELP PLZZZZZZ
You likely have a bad control box. Polaroid sold MANY of these TV's with bad parts. I searched online and finally found some contact info for someone in corporate. I basically stomped my feet and threw a fit until they agreed to do something. I have had the TV for 1 yr 9 mo when it started doing the SAME thing. If you call customer service, they will offer to send you a "discounted" replacement TV for $310 (refurbished) but you pick up the costs for shipping yours back, shipping the new one AND tax. Or they will sell you the part for $500 and then you have to pay a repairman to install the part.
My suggestion.....don't take NO for an answer. They finally agreed to send me a control box. I am sure it's refurbished and now I have to figure out how to get it installed. I also found a site online where a few people fixed it themselves for less than $30.
Good luck! I will never buy Polaroid again.....ever!

Flm-3232 Power supply
The problem is with your "control box". I just went through this also. You didn't say how old your TV was. My TV was 1 year, 3 months, 26 days old when my control box went out. I finally got the number to Polaroid and called until I got help. (don't expect any help with their call center) They sent me a new control box and the TV works fine now and the box has a 90 day warranty. Unfortunately, if your TV is older than mine was, its unlikely they will help you. You can watch ebay for a unit, they come up regularly. You will need to know which one is the model version for your TV. Look at your serial number, the 4th and 5th characters tell you which version. If your model version is 00, 01, 02, 03, A1, 23 then the unit is: *909-KS0-GF371XAH. If it is 12, 13, A2 then the unit is: *909-TE1-GF378XCH. This info on the serial #/model version was given to me be a repair tech that had a control box for sale on ebay. I have not verified the information, nor did I have to use it, but it sounds accurate and he seemed knowledgeable. I hope this helps, good luck.

FLM 3232 by Polaroid won't turn on
Usually TV's have that period of time where they'll turn off after an hour or two of no one pressing
a button.
If the problem persists, You could get another one and return the old one with the new one's receipt.
