Not turning on, is dead
If you are capable of repairing electronics, there are 2 capacitiors in the FLM3232 sets that commonly leak and need to be repalced. They cause no picture symptoms but, the power indicator usually turns blue as normal. If you would like a photo of the 2 caps to check email me at

Tv has buzzing sound
You have a couple of capaitors in the power supply that need to be replaced. This is a very common issue with the FLM3232 series.

Polaroid FLM-3232 Just went black had burnig smell
LCD sets are backlit by a special color temperature fluorescent lamp assembly, usually built into the display itself and not replacable for most brands. There are no "light bulbs" to replace in flat panel units.
The failure you described is a serious one. A burning smell often means the main power supply or display buffer drives shorted somewhere. The display or lamp could also be shorted out (rare) , but you might find a damaged backlight power supply (not rare).
Just changing the affected board (s) may not be your only problem, as there could be shorts elsewhere that caused the failure to begin with. Proper power precautions are needed from blowing the new board the second you fire the set up.
Only thing I could recommend is find a FACTORY AUTHORIZED repair center and find out what's wrong. They would have quick access to parts and resources for engineering support directly from the manufacturer. It's best to find one with a reasonable estimate charge and make sure that charge is credited to your final bill should you decide to have it repaired.

Polaroid flm-3232 locked or in sleep mode? Is that possible
Hi there!
I work in an electronics store and I've come across this problem before. The only solution that has ever worked for the people who call in or come to see us is pretty simple. You need to unplug your PC from the TV (if you haven't already done so), turn the TV on by using the "channel +" button. Some TV's when turned off at the wall will not turn back on again unless you press the channel + button. Give it a go and see what happens. Let me know if you need more help.
Also, it sounds like your laptop may not have been supported due to the wrong resolution being outputted through your VGA connection. When you get your TV turned on again I'll see if I can help you get them to work together,
Cheers and good luck!
Abby.

Flm-3232 Power supply
The problem is with your "control box". I just went through this also. You didn't say how old your TV was. My TV was 1 year, 3 months, 26 days old when my control box went out. I finally got the number to Polaroid and called until I got help. (don't expect any help with their call center) They sent me a new control box and the TV works fine now and the box has a 90 day warranty. Unfortunately, if your TV is older than mine was, its unlikely they will help you. You can watch ebay for a unit, they come up regularly. You will need to know which one is the model version for your TV. Look at your serial number, the 4th and 5th characters tell you which version. If your model version is 00, 01, 02, 03, A1, 23 then the unit is: *909-KS0-GF371XAH. If it is 12, 13, A2 then the unit is: *909-TE1-GF378XCH. This info on the serial #/model version was given to me be a repair tech that had a control box for sale on ebay. I have not verified the information, nor did I have to use it, but it sounds accurate and he seemed knowledgeable. I hope this helps, good luck.

FLM 3232 by Polaroid won't turn on
Usually TV's have that period of time where they'll turn off after an hour or two of no one pressing
a button.
If the problem persists, You could get another one and return the old one with the new one's receipt.

Polaroid 32 lcd hdtv/monitor model flm-3232
yes you have to test voltage but you must plug it in and check the power supply board first, the most common problem for those things is the 24 volt transformer in the power board fails check it for 24 volt output first, then trace the power route from there and the component that the board traces lead you to that dont transfer power through it will most likely be the problem but start at your power suopply and work outward from there. mine the 24 volt converter or transformer blew. i have been looking for one for 4 months. there is a eeprom in the main video board that blows also its easily found, it turns the unit on from the standby switch. check it also with a volt meter. you cant miss it on the board.
