My camera
Hello shrnj113:
Which door are you talking about?
If it is the lens slide cover, then it needs repair.
If it is the battery cover, then you need repair and parts.
Take care,
Lost pictures in transit from camera to computer
Sometimes there are other folders and the pictures can be hidden.
Also make sure to check internal memory with the card removed. Remove the memory card, turn on the camera and check if any of the pictures are on the internal memory.
Also, use a card reader for the computer instead of using the camera connected to the computer.
With a card reader you may be able to see the folders (if any) and retrieve your pictures.
Never delete any pictures or edit them from the computer to the camera. This can cause corruption and loss of pictures and files.
Always download (copy) them from the camera on to the computer.

You mentioned that the camera has had a lot of abuse. I assume that means you did not take a lot of care with the camera.
Remember that a digital camera is very delicate. It will not stand under abuse very long.
Treat your digital camera like you are dealing with eggs, and it will last. Of course things do happen, it is mechanical, and things do burn out, and wear.
If you would use the wrist strap to hold the camera, the chance of dropping a camera is lessened. Putting it in a padded case will indeed help to preserve the delicate parts.
If you want to toss the camera in a box, and treat it with very little care, then maybe you should use a cheap camera.
Not working
All three:
When this happens, not much can be done.
Sell it on a site such as Ebay for parts and or as is.
At least you may get a few dollars, and may be able to help someone else.
Won't turn on...
Hello:mollymule
rafael01014:When a digital camera is dropped, bad news.
It can damage the camera beyond repair. If the lens was open, more than likely the lens was damaged internally.
The other camera had some internal problems or the battery is low.
Make sure the battery is full charge.
For both of these cameras, since they are 5 mpxl , and are a few years old... sell it on a site like Ebay for parts or as is.

Hello csdiskau:
Does the camera come on when you slide the cover?
If nothing happens, the problem may be in the camera.
If the camera starts, but has no picture, then there is internal problems and could be a bad ccd.
If the camera starts and you can start the menus, there is internal problems.

Hello jaunshe66:
First, make sure you have installed the software for your camera. The drivers have to be active in order to recognize the camera. Most of the newer cameras will show like a hard drive when you go to MY COMPUTER and then open the portable drive.
If you do not have the software, go to the home page of the camera maker and download the software needed with the drivers.
Vivitar 7100 damaged lcd scren
Yes. You can get them (to fit yourself) from the manufacture or you can simply take it in to an outlet (like curries etc) or a repair center and they will fix it or have it sent away.
However, it may be cheaper to buy a new camera than to have the screen fixed. You can also get an older broken 7100 with a working screen and remove it and replace your broken one...tho if you are not up to doing that I would take it to a repair center.

it runs out of battery really fast.
and it doesn't connect to the computer ¬.¬
i installed it when i got it,
and now all of a sudden the software isn't on my laptop.
Downloading digital camera to computer
I'm not familiar with the Vivicam, but most cameras do not require any software. You just plug in the cable to a USB port on the computer and then look in Start - My Computer for the camera's memory. If that does not work, try some other USB device to make sure the computer's USB port is actually working. A memory stick would be perfect to try. If the port does not work, take the computer back to the store and have them fix it. Probably just a matter of the ports not being enabled in the computer setup or a loose connection. If you have ports on both the front and back of the computer, try them.
If all else fails, you could use a card reader. Many all-in-one printer devices have card readers and you can buy a little card reader for perhaps $25 so you can take the memory card out of the camera and read it on the computer.
