Cannot find how to unlock memory card

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

I bought a new SanDisk 4GB SDHC Card. When I put

I haven't heard of anyone having this problem, and they're all using 4gb Scandisk cards, so...I would suspect that the card is bad. Try to get it exchanged, but first try an older, card you used before, to make sure the camera is ok as far as detecting a card. Hope this helps.

Manual for vivitar 8690

Hi,
Please go here and follow the prompts. Have the camera with you - because they ask for the serial number and some other questions before they give you the information you want.
It is the VIVITAR website.

Can,t load pictures on computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

Sometimes it will not turn on and if you do get it

Your problem is likely due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you're using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, it may be time to replace your batteries, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

When I turn on the

If you aren't using rechargeable batteries, sometimes the bateries (well most of the time), they aren't even strong enough to turn it on.

There could be any number of things that could cause your problem. The only thing you can do is try a better battery like Energizer Lithium. If that doesn't work, all you can really do is replace the camera as a repair would cost more than getting a new one.

Hope helped with this. Good luck.

When I turn on my vivicam 5022 it just starts

If you can get into the menu, scroll to "reset" and follow the on-screen instructions. If not, try this...remove the card and batteries...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes....insert the card and then the battery...turn it on. As for downloading pics, the easiest way is to use a card reader to download to a folder you create on your desktop.
