You have to be the computers administrator to change any values on any hard drive on your computer. The file system is likely corrupted. This can happen if you remove the usb drive from the computer without clicking "Safely remove hardware' first, (in your taskbar).

There is little chance that you can recover the data.

Just in case, try inserting the drive into different usb ports, preferably also on different computers. If the result is always the same, you will have to format your drive.

Insert the drive into a usb port. Assuming you use windows, click Start, click My Computer, find your USB drive in the list and RIGHT click on it. You will see a Format option. Click on that and use default or FAT. A quick format should do.

Of course, unlike most CDs which you can't rewrite, USB sticks work like hard drives. You can write anything on them at any time, until it's full. And of course when you remove files from the USB stick you can clear more space and you can add new files.

what you need to do is connect your usb drive, then open a command prompt window (Programs->accesories) and in this window type:

diskpart.exe
and press enter

you will be presented with another window similar to the first. In this new window type:

list volume
and press enter

this will show you a list of all drives connected to your machine.

Next type:
select volume *


where * is the volume number of the required drive listed in the list volume section.
and press enter
This will select the drive for the change you are about to make.

type:
detail volume
and press enter

this will list all of the attributes to do with the selected drive, you should see in there that the disk is write protected.

next type:
ATTRIBUTES DISK CLEAR READONLY
and press enter. Once the window has finished what it's doing you can close all of the command prompt windows and your disk should be ready to use again.

My friend, this USB is damages, it need reparation, if you have windows 7, it launches a fixing program as soon as the usb disc is plugged, try to choose the scan and repair option, it must have been damages by viruses.

fomat is not same it is 32 bits not nf.

USB drives can be write-protected by modifying the StoreageDevicePolicies Registry key and WriteProtect Registry value. click Start>run>regedit to open Registry Editor. and press control+F to open the find dialogue box and type "usb device" or "driverdesc" to open usb mass storage device or type "usb mass storage device" in the search windows. And right click on it and delete. This will set the policy value to 0. then insert your usb device. It will work fine. # Remember: do not delete any unknow files in the registry as this will make some programes not work as usual.

It's in Write Protected mode because the memory chip inside is dying. Try to copy the files and after that junk it.
