Some routers blink to show there is ACTIVITY on the ethernet and internet ports, For example you broadband modem is connected to a port on hte back of your router this has a light it would blink on some routers to show activity, and likewise with the ethernet side.

If you have internet access and have zero issues this is NORMAL.

Unless you can connect from a direct cable from a PC/Notebook, login and and then reset the WPA, you wioll probably have to go back to Factory Defaults and set it all up again.
Most routers have a small button on the back that needs a pen or paperclip to press it.
Depending on the type you may need to eiter just hold it in fot 5-10 sec OR power off/on whilst holding the button.

have u tried running the broadband cd as it will be all new settings now that ops has changed if this does not work ring the provider u could be knocked off the network

Try to open the required ports of your web server on your router.

So you want the public IP address that your Netopia router is getting to do a 1 to 1 NAT to the private IP address 192.168.1.136? Basically you want to bypass any of the firewall restrictions of the router?

The caveat with this configuration is that if you don't have any other public IP addresses for the actual Netopia router to use then all other devices on your network will now longer be able to access the internet through the router. Only if you have a public IP address that you can assign the router will it be able provide NAT and internet access to the rest of your network.

The 192.168.1.0 network is not routable on the public network. You need your entire network to NAT through your router using a public IP address.

You configuration will work if the Netopia router will allow a 1 to 1 NAT to another node on the network and allow NAT'ing for the rest of your private network concurrently. Of course you need at least (2) public IP addresses in the same subnet as well.

If you haven't done so already I would turn the netopia router off and back on again at least once. If that doesn't solve the problem it's probably a sync issue with your providers equipment. I'm assuming you're using ATT because of the Netopia router, but generally speaking you should contact your provider and have them run a line test.

They can determine if the line is good or not. If It is all working fine at the time you call ask them to run monitoring on the line for the following 24-48 hours to try and anticipate a reoccurrence. Insist that they call you back regardless at the end of the monitoring term to share their results with you.

Yes, the netopia router will work with xbox live. you just have to configure some settings on your router.

To configure your router for Xbox Live try the following steps below:

step 1: Open an Internet Explorer page. in address bar type your router ip address, That should take you to the Netopia's settings page
Step 2: On the menu to left click Firewall, set it to Low and Save Changes
Step 3: On the menu to left click Expert Mode, then Yes, enter Expert Mode
Step 4: On the menu to left click Configure, then Advanced, then NAT
Step 5: Where it says Service Name, scroll the list down to Xbox Live Games, click Enable and then Enable again
Step 6: On the menu to left click Configure, then Connection.
Step 7: In main page scroll down to the UPnP and put a check in the box. then Save

It should then restart the Netopia, and when it comes back on in a few seconds your XBOX LIVE should be good to go. If you are still experiencing problems accessing Xbox Live your Netopia may require a firmware upgrade.

If your modem is losing sync with ADSL 2 that means that your line has a problem. Try having your DSL provider move you to a new Cable and pair.

Go to control panel press on add/remove hardwear and when promted to search for new hardwear press on next.And continue as if installing a new hardwear and you will reenable your USB port.

OK you could try Installing & then Running the "Program" in "Administrator mode", & set Compatibility Mode for XP. Ie: Uninstall completely, Install software as Administrator Mode & then after installed, set the main .exe, for Compatibility Mode for XP... and set to RUN with Administrator rights. ONLY THEN after it is all installed.. PLUG THE DEVICE IN... if it asks for "Drivers" point it to ya Install Disk. Also try to use "any other" USB port when you reinstall. I don't understand what you mean by "Unlock" the USB? I presume you perhaps mean how can you "Use" it? The USB Port. What needs to done in this case, is to Install the "Driver" that will allow the "System" to "See" the USB Device.. When you plug the Device into the PC, with ya USB lead, the PC should "See" it, beep twice, and if it hasn't been installed B4, will, if it cannot find any "Generic Drivers", then, "Ask" for "Drivers". (These may be on CD etc.) When windows has installed the USB "Drivers" your device will be ready to be used. Some Modems have Both an Ethernet connection & a USB one too... this allows two (2) ways to connect it to your "System" OR two (2) ways to be connected to the modem for two (2) PC's simultaneously. The Ethernet one generally has the address 192.168.0.*. Whereas the USB one is generally 10.0.0.*,or 10.1.1.* You can also "Bridge" these two together.
