Automatic Focus doesn't always work
AF only work if aimed at something contrasty. If you point your canera at a white wall you will hear your AF work madly without results.

Nikon D50 Flashes Err and clicks
hi..
This screen shows areas of the photo that are overexposed slightly.
It flashes them to help you.
You get to this screen by pressing the up or down arrows when displaying the pictures you have taken.
To change it just press the up arrow when the camera is showing the screen until you get a display without flashing.
Once you have done this the display will be steady.
If you get any other screen in future you may have accidently pressed the arrow again.
Just cycle thru the displays to get back to steady.
thank u

D80 autofocus will not work.
the auto focus motor (moves lens) has failed inside the camera, the kicker on this is you can't buy the part to fix it, it must go to a authorized Canon repair shop, they are the only ones that have the tech manuals and parts to fix this, sorry but that is just how it is.

D50 cannot use a 4gb card???
No, the D50 will not (as you've discovered) accept an SDHC memory card (anything bigger than 2gb is SDHC). I haven't found a firmware upgrade for the D50 to rectify this issue, either. I own a D50 also, and love it, but bigger cards would be nice.

Nikon D50 : how do I ensure the flash will fire on day shots?
Auto mode only allows for "Auto Flash", "Auto Flash with red eye" or "Forced Flash Off". Forced, flash "ON" does not exist in Auto.
Put it into "P" for programmable mode. Then press the flash button on the left-face. The flash will pop-up. While holding the button, turn the selector dial to select what you want the flash to do - the little flash icons will display on the top panel as you do this.
Cheers.

I just began receiving the error code "fEE" on my D50.
Remove your card and see if that clears the issue. If it does, then you
card was probably not "seated" correctly and it needs to be reinserted.
If that solves it, you're good to go. Another option is you try
resetting your camera. This is a fairly easy procedure which involves
either going into your setup menu and choosing "reset," or, removing
the batteries for a few minutes. It may be that the firmware loading
got corrupted and the camera just needs to be "rebooted," which is
something that turning it on/off won't accomplish. But after which, you
should have the camera reset to factory default settings.
Also, remove the lenses, clean the lens contacts with a pencil eraser, and reinstall. then power up.

Nikon D50 display screen flashes
There is a feature called "Highlights" on the D50 which you may have accidentally activated. This may be causing the problem you describe.
To resolve: Use the D pad and press up twice to get back to normal view screen - do this while viewing your photos.
If this resolves the problem please rate my answer accordingly as ratings are important to the experts on this site.
If not feel free to post a comment and I will come back to further troubleshoot the issue for you.
Thanks.

"Err" message
ERR is like saying to your doctor your sick. It covers a very wide host of problems. Only Nikon once the camera is connector to there computer can give you a better diagnosis.

D50 wont power up
I have the same problem as well. It is not the battery. I took my
camera to the store and had them put a new battery in while there. It
never turned on. I really like this camera. I once took about 100
continuous shots. It was great. But now nothing. The D60 camera I have
is a higher mega pixel, but does not do alot of things that the D50
does. I wish someone really had the answer as to how to fix it without
a high cost.

Memory Card Error
You have to format them in your camera for them to work. Formatting in other devices makes them useless. Stupid, but that's how it goes.
So, put a card in your camera, and find a format option in Your camera's menu. Everything will be fine after that.
And remember, any camera must first format the card for its own specifications before it can be used.

Dead Nikon D50 in mint condition...
Sounds like a power problem. Try checking voltage of battery and cleaning contacts with a cotton bud and electrical contact cleaner $8 at repco. Had a similar problem with a pentax mini slr. Verdigris (****) on battery terminals is dynamite in low current circuits. If you cant afford contact cleaner use special methylated spirit ( $3.00 at local pharmacy). Good luck Trevor

Get ERR message when trying to take pictures/troubleshoot no help
Two possible things to check.
First, a bad memory card can easily cause this problem. Try replacing the card.
Secondly, could be a poor connection between camera and lens. Be sure contacts around the rim of lens and lens opening are clean and free of dirt, dust and debri. Do not get anything inside your camera when you remove the lens. Dust is a killer to the sensor in the camera.

Nikon coolpix
Try blowing compressed air into the battery compartment. And check the metal connetor points on the battery to be sure they clean. Can use a little alcohol to clean if they're dirty.
Could be the battery is dead and will not accept a charge.
Let me know if the above worked.
