That there is a problem with the camera 'accepting' the memory card. You could try removing the card and then reseating it and that sometimes works.
You may could reset the camera and then reformat your memory card or cards.

Camera resetting can be done using the approach on page 120 in the camera manual.

Many professionals reformat their cards every time they've downloaded their photos. Reformatting should be done as per the manual.

Settings on my Nikon D-50

The Ikelite S100 is for a Canon Elph camera. I don't think you're going to get your D50 to work with it. If you have a 6805.1, which is designed for that model Nikon, your Owner's Manual is here:

http://www.ikelite.com/downloads/instructions/SLR_pdf/Nikon-pdf/Nik_D50.pdf

Did you buy the housing used? Did someone tell you it would work with your camera?

Error message(err) comes up on

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Black spot on pictures -

The spots can be in the inside of the lens settings to the CCD/imager.
If the cleaning of the lens is done well it can be a speck of dust logged in to the screen and having it on the image.
A careful cleaning in a dust proof set up is required.

Menu displays card is locked

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

The camera doesnt auto focus

If the lens has an aperture ring, be sure it is set to "A". Try cleaning the contacts on the lens and camera body where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Error message r07 on D80

Hi,

his isn't an error message. R04 or R07 or R[any number] refers to the number of shots you can take before you're camera's internal memory buffer is full.

As you're taking pictures, you're camera is writing to your memory card. When you are taking burst photographs, all the other photos you've just taken are "waiting in line" to get written to your card. If your buffer is full, the camera will not let you take another shot until it's finished writing the photo to the card.

Your camera's ability to write to the memory card is only as fast as the memory card itself as well as the quality of the photos (RAW vs. JPEG).

Sports photographers usually shoot in JPEG because they are taking a lot of shots relatively quickly and if their camera freezes then they can lose a shot.

the R means remaining, so R03 three shots remaining/left before the buffer is full.
Switching off the NR high iso and long exposure. buying a 166x card or faster will help but you won't see it on the counter.
If you do the above and switch to jpeg only it goes up.
you won't do this but, the above and quality to basic and small gives R51.
But if you shoot raw its R06 at best.

Any further help, let me know.

Black at the bottom of the pictures

Possible causes :
1. dirt or dust in camera or lens
2. dirt on sensor
3. sensor is cracked
If you are using the built-in flash and a telephoto lens, the end of the lens can block some of the light from the flash and that appears as a slightly rounded black "hump" at the bottom of your picture.

My Nikon D50 recently started acting up, does not

Have you got more than one lens?

If so, I'd see if the problem is present with a different lens.

It could be a connection problem. Try cleaning your lens contacts (on the camera mount and on the lens) to make sure it's not just a bit of oxidation on the contacts causing a bad connection. A t-shirt with a touch of alcohol would probably do it.

I'd do the same thing with the battery contacts (and try a different battery if you have one, in case the battery has a problem).

Have you got another memory card? If so, I'd try a different one to make sure it's not shorting out the camera somewhere. I'd make sure to format it via the camera menus for format, too.

I need to recover erased files

Hi,

If you have erased or formatted the card but have not over-written it with any new data on it, you can try to recover the deleted files by using a file recovery program like Recuva.

You can download Recuva from: http://www.piriform.com/recuva

After downloading and installing the software on a computer, kindly scan the card using the software. If the files are not damaged or over-written, they can be recovered successfully. For detailed steps on using Recuva, kindly click here

Wish you all the best and hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa.

I dropped my Nikon d50 and now when I turn it on

The lens is not making proper contact with the camera. Try removing the lens, cleaning the contacts on both the back of the lens and in the lens mount on the body, then reattaching the lens. If that doesn't do it, try jiggling the lens gently. If that doesn't do it, try attaching a different lens if you have one available, or attaching the lens to a different body if that is possible. If nothing works then it could be that the lens and/or camera needs servicing after the drop.

You probably have a problem with the holding pin. It has a spring that probably got moved, or the pin is broken. You could get the camera to a local electronist to help you repair it.
