Hi - I have a
Thast's a bit odd, Elise.
A couple of things to check:
1. Is the lock switch in the fully UP position? It is a little slide switch on the side opposite the cut-off corner. Slide it right down then back up again .
2. Does the card have old images, music or other data stored on it? It will hold up to 400 5mb images but it does, like all memory cards, have finite capacity.
3. Have you tried formatting the card in camera?

HiDue to some kind of defective design, once in while same problem of your comes around. However , it is critical if you force. In this worse case the saving chance and braking is 50:50. Taking off the lens and replace the lens mount would cost to you around $35 to 215 depend on what your local repair shop would want to charge.

Hello. Please follow these 5 easy steps:
1. The most important of all,
DO NOT try to start your camera.
2.
Loosen the battery cover,
remove the battery and put it somewhere to dry.
3. Wipe the camera immediately with a paper towel or anything that absorbs water well.
4.
Use a powerful vacuum to absorb the water droplets which you can't reach with a towel (such as those inside the case).
5. Put the battery and the camera in a bowl of uncooked rice by covering it completely. The rice absorbs the moisture from the air very well so that it will help drying your camera. Keep it there for 24 hours or so.I hope it helps! If you have any other questions, please leave a reply!
Thank you for using FixYa.

Do you mean the camera can't works well with your new Nikon D50 battery?
But how about your original battery.
Maybe your new battery is not so compatible with your camera so the camera can't recognizes the whole information on the
Nikon D50 battery chips.

When in playback mode, black patches flash on the
You're seeing blown-out highlights. These are the portions of your picture that have been so overexposed that they've gone pure white, losing all details. This is generally considered a bad thing, but as the camera doesn't know whether you're deliberately going for that effect, it's merely warning you. The proper fix is to reduce exposure (the easiest way is by using exposure compensation) so as to bring back the lost details. This runs the risk of losing details in the shadows as they go pure black, but this generally isn't as bad as losing details in the highlights. We don't expect to see things in the dark, after all.
That was the long answer. The short answer is to repeatedly press up/down on the multiselector to choose a different view of your picture.

Have faded black corners on images (intermittent
Common problem and yes no to user error. You didn't say what lens you were using but I'm going to guess it's an 18mm on the wide end AND maybe you have a UV filter on it to protect the front lens element. What you are experiencing is what is called vignette. I hope my spelling was correct. What causes this is the extreme wide angle view of the lens, actually capable of seeing the edge of the lens barrel, there is another little problem that messes with your brain, you can't see this happening until after the picture is on the computer or you have enlarged it on the camera view screen and then zoomed in on the corner(s). The reason behind this is what you see in the viewfinder is only about 94% of the total image you will get on the view screen (LCD) or see on the computer monitor. So what can you do about this? There are a few things some you won't like. While taking a full wide angle shot remove the protective or polarization filter and shoot a "Naked" lens (correct for contrast in post processing) Stop the lens down to say F8 or F11 which will use more of the center of the lens but still give you the wide angle however you don't get something for nothing. You will most likely trade off shutter speed and need to use a tripod. Make sure if you are using a VR type lens that you shut the "Vibration Reduction" off when the camera is mounted to a tripod or you'll have some more issues. What I do at the 18mm end is shoot it without a filter at F8 or F11 and in post processing crop out the corners by enlarging the photo/print slightly. I call this shooting loose relying on the 6% I don't see in the viewfinder and shoot the scene knowing I'm going to "zoom crop" in Photoshop. Hope this was a help Happy New Year

Perfectly good photos but image in view finder
Try adjusting the viewfinder diopter. There's a little dial just to the right of the viewfinder. Turn it while looking through the viewfinder. You want to be looking at an unfocused view or a blank wall. Turn the dial until the focus brackets are sharp. Make sure you do this with your shooting eye.

You cannot make it STAY AWAY. THat buttn, the multi-selector switch, is useful. If while viewing your shots it is pressed to the right, then the shot info comes up. Push it once back to the left and that info goes away. If pushed left once again, you get a histogram of the phoro. Push it once to the right and that histogram will go away. without the histogram or information on the screen, you are in normal viewing mode and pressing that multi0selector switch up or down will cycle through your photos.

My Camera won't take pictures...
Have you changed lens? F-- blinking usually means that a non-CPU
lens is attached to camera. Try changeing camera mode to Manual and see what happens. Take Camera to Photo store and try another lens(CPU may have gone out).
