Defrost heater, timer or control or defrost thermostat. these are the three components in the defrost system. Look at the heater first. If there are thermisters in the system the coil thermister could be bad.

I too am very perplexed by that i have looked at the parts breakdown and see a switch for the freezer in the side wall but no switch for the fresh food section. I have included the link for the parts breakdown i was looking at, the freezer light switch is item# 14A

Hello, You are more than likely having a freon issue.  The problem sounds like a filter drier restriction.  This could be a simple fix.   It will require some indepth time.

The refrig side does not have a fan. only the freezer. Is that fan working??? you will hear it when the unit is running (and not in defrost) The clicking you hear is the Damper (a motorized door allowing more or less air to the refrig) opening or closing. Is there frost buildup on the back wall of the freezer??
