Thermostat doesn't stay at one temp

It sounds to me like you have an intermittent short in the temperature up button. If the circuit telling the main controller that the up button is pressed, the down button may not register at all, which would explain why it takes a long time to lower the temperature. If the up button is not shorted at the moment, the down button will work just fine, and you can get the temperature set to a low number. Leaving the unit alone, the intermittent short in the up button will eventually simulate pressing the up button, and the temperature will be raised to the maximum possible setting. The type of buttons found on air conditioners, if you tear them apart, are usually just a thin disk of metal that relies on it's own springiness to snap away from its contact once you let go of it. Sometimes these lose their springiness or get bent so that they don't properly recognise when you release the button. If you're very handy you could de-solder the button from the board and replace it with a new one. If you're handy but not up to soldering, you can use a knife to scrape away the traces on the circuit board on which the button is mounted. You need to be sure you've got the right traces, as those boards can be cramped. This will completely disable the button whose traces you obliterate, but you'll eliminate the phantom temperature increase as well. If messing with the traces on the board is over your head, you might be able to secure a replacement circuit board from the manufacturer.

Its most likely is not the switch. It is most likely the cord though. Due to the excess strain on the cord it has probably cut through the rubber coating on the wire and connected to the frame and grounded the hot lead. Fix the cord and you may have it handled.

Is there an accessory to stop or reduce condensation?

Not sure what you mean. The purpose of the a/c unit is to remove water from the air (i.e. create condensation) and expell it to the outside.

Need to know if I

Hello, the first thing is make sure the AC is tilted a bit in the window, if it is level the water will collect toward the front of the unit and drip inside. Second if there is a drain hole on tne unit then you can connect a hose to it and let it drain. However if there is no drain hole then the unit uses tne fan blade to splash the water on the condenser and since the condenser is warm/hot it will condense the water.

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. No there is no need to put water in the air conditioner. You will get condensation in the unit from the humidity in the air condensing on the evaporater coil.

My unit is woring, but

In the unit there is a Compressor. When you turn the unit On the Compressor kicks On.If the compressor is not starting then this compressor has to be checked. As you said that the unit was not used for 2-3 years then the fault in the compressor can be the issue.
But if the compressor is starting then  the freon /coolant gas has to be checked. In the ac unit there is a gas called freon .The cooling starts due to freon gas.But if this freon gas is got leaked in this 2 years when the unit was not in use then the ac will work but it will not cool.Get the freon gas checked in your unit ,if its low then get it refilled by the local ac repair store. Its a gas refilling bottle which they can easily refill in your ac system.
Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Cold got bad smell when its coming out from the mouth

Have it clean, there maybe something in there that causing bad odor, just bring it down and full it out of the housnig, unscrew the top of it where you can find the blower, just be carefull upon cleaning it, the fins of the evaporator are sharp, you might injure yourself.
