I have my brand new frigidaire window ac unit set at 60 degrees Fahrenheit, so why does it only cool and keep the room at 65 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit?

if you have it set at 60 F and it is working at 65 to 68 F then that would be about right as the air is cooled the cold air falls to the floor and out under the door, open window or anywhere else it can escape the unit has to be at 80% room height so if it is set in a window then when the cold air gets up to the thermostat or ac level in the window then it will stop cooling So if the ac unit is say 4ft from the floor and the ceiling height is 8 ft then the ac will only cool the bottom 4 ft cold air does not rise but falls down if you are using a ceiling fan then the cold air is stirred up and the 65F sounds about right remember that the setting temp ( what you set it at) is the lowest temp that it will go down to before it stops cooling and if that is not reached it will keep working to attain that temp and if the room is too big, air leaks under door . around the fit in the window , no insulated walls , hot exterior wall, etc then maybe 65 F is the best you will get

Window unit wiring

If these are part of your replacement piece chances are it's an upgraded board with optional accessories. If you only had 2 before go with 2 now. Wire nut extra wires and zip tie tight. Should be ok. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/thomas_092728000e6acb79

Model FAZ12HS2A. When in Heat mode, why does it blow cool air?

Hello J, thanks for your post!

I see that your Frigidaire air conditioner is not emitting the proper air when in heat mode. I would recommend performing a reset on your air conditioner and you can do that by disconnecting the power cord. Once you have removed the power cord, press the reset button and then the test button. You should then be able to plug it back into the wall and start it up. If you continue to have issue with it an electrical component may need to be replaced and I would recommend this be completed by a professional technician. They would have the knowledge on how to properly disassemble the air conditioner without any harm. Good luck! -Matt

Where is the condensate line on a Frigidaire wall air conditioner?

There is sometimes a plastic hose between the evaporator and condenser side on the bottom of the case. Other models simply have holes in the metal for condensate to drain into the condenser side . Make sure there is no obstruction to the hose or holes. If you find none, then check the level of the unit. It MUST be slanted so the back of the unit is lower than the front.

Thank you for your post, John!

Based off the information you have provided you need the code for a universal air conditioner remote. You may need to speak with manufacturer of the remote for that direct code. Best of luck! -Matt

My unit blows out black soot looking stuff, and it smears when touched, and my filter is clean. What is it? And how can I get it to stop?

Carol, the first thing I would suspect would be mold in the insulation within the blower compartment. Sometimes the cooling coil overflows, causing the fibreglas insulation to get wet which in turn allows mildew/mold to form in that compartment. Severe cases will sometimes discharge nasty stuff as you describe coming out of the ducts. Turn off the power and remove the blower compartment cover and investigate.

My frigidaire air conditioner is making my apartment feel damp and when i took my filter out to clean it that part was damp too! What do I do to fix this?

You may have a clogged drain or the unit is installed without enough angle pitch for the water to drain to the back of the unit toward the outdoor section of the unit. I'm assuming it's a window air conditioner? The moisture condenses on the cooling coil near the filter and should drip down into a condensate drain pan, then the water should drain to the back of the unit into a pan at the condenser coil fan that is rejecting the heat outside. The fan blade usually has a ring on the outdoor fan that pick up the condensate moisture the fling accumulated water onto the hot condenser coil to evaporate it. Also the filter should not be touching the cooling coil. Make sure it in the correct slot. Some a/c cooling coil require a wetting agent that allow the water to slide down the coil and not pull off of the coil into the indoor circulating fan.

My fan speeds on my frigidaire window unit keep changing by itself. Input and advice please!!!

Hello Jordan, thank you for your inquiry!

From my understanding the fan speeds on your Frigidaire air conditioner changes on its own. Do you own a remote with your air conditioner? It could be getting accidentally pressed and that is causing your fan to switch. If you do not have a remote with your air conditioner it could be a potential issue within your control panel or keypad. I would then recommend performing a reset on your air conditioner and you can do that by unplugging the power cord and pressing the reset button. Once the reset button has been pressed you would need to hit the test button and then you should be able to plug it back in. If this does not resolve your issue I would recommend seeking assistance from a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. This will help you avoid any unnecessary part purchases. -Matt

Frigidaire window unit fra18emu2 compressor will not turn off when power is shut off. Must unplug. Why?

Either the compressor relay has become stuck (most likely) or there is a wiring fault internally where power is being shunted directly to the compressor (also possible). Check the condition of the wiring around the compressor start capacitor and, if you see melted wires, there's your culprit. (NOTE: Melted wires all need to be replaced to eliminate possible fire hazard.)

Frigidaire AC window unit, model fam185r2a (18,500 BTU) only cools for a few minutes before it cycles off and just fan blows. Then a few min later cool air cycles back on. Is this a thermostat issue?

The window units normally have a sensor thats attached to the front of the indoor coil. This controls the thermostat. I usually pull this sensor away from the coil because it stops cooling before the room is cool. It is attached to the cold coil so it senses the coil temp, not the room temp. You can normally see it when you remove the air filter. Don't break it! It may be a wire or small copper tube

Frigidaire AC model LRA187MT2. Compressor runs nonstop - does not matter what the temperature setting is. When put into fan mode displays H1 instead of the temperature. Filter is clean.

You probably have a circuit board failure. On the board there are micro-relays that control power to the compressor. And in that relay the switch that is normally open is stuck closed.
