How do I take out a a.c filter to clean without damaging it

Good Morning Maria - Some air conditioner filters are removed by sliding out from the right-hand side. Others, you need to push the vent handle to the Vent Closed position and open the front panel. Grasp the filter by center and pull up and out the filter can be wash using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Rinse filter thoroughly. Gently shake excess water from the filter. Be sure filter is thoroughly dry before replacing. Keep in mind that instead of washing you may vacuum the filter clean as well.

The heater won't heat in my window unit.

Hello Jim Hyde - Try pressing the reset button on the plug, if you haven't so already. If the unit continues to not heat up, contact a professional that works with your manufacturer to move forward accurately. Keep in mind that for some air conditioners the heating option is simply a supplement to help heat up a room but in most cases it will not completely heat up the entire room.

Frigidaire FAC107S1A leaking water thru the inside of the house

Hello, first make sure the unit is tilted back in the window about a 1/4 inch. Also, check the drain on unit, sometimes they can clog and prevent condensate from draining.

There are no drain holes

No! The new units use the condisation that forms in to the pan to cool the coils. It keeps the unit running more efficent.

I have a goldstar air

The problem you're having can be the result of 2 tings.

1. The drain hole in the drip pan under the unit is clogged. The hole should be located near the rear of
the unit. It can be hard to find at times, as the clog will bled in with the hole.

2. The rear of the unit does not have enough downward tilt. Which allows the collected water to flow to
the drain hole. The general rule of thumb is 1/4" to 1/2" downward tilt at the rear of the unit.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I turn off the a/c

The Master ON/OFF Switch either needs cleaning or replacing. I'd try cleaning it first with electrical contact cleaner. Be sure the ON/Off Switch is in the OFF position, before you unplug the unit, to take the face off to clean the switch & it's contacts.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

How to remove the front panel holding the air

We have a FAC127P1A and if you gently pull the lower cover by holding each side where there is an indentation it will lower so you can get to the filter. Then either replace or wash the filter. We have another model, FAA087P7A1, and we were able to pull the cover down and lift up slightly and remove the cover and wash to remove the collection of dust, etc.

On this latter model there is a collection of dust, etc. in the area where the cooling is blown into the room that I would like to know how to remove for cleaning. I feel it is unhealthy the way it is now and would like to clean it before removing for the season. I know I could use q-tips or a small piece of cloth to clean but that is pain staking.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
