WHIRLPOOL WRF40 Solution to this problem!!! very easy ----I assume you have a problem with the control board switching on and of erratic when you pass setting 3 on the LED display, the designers of this fridge left the calculator at home that day, ask a technician to replace the Resistors 5, 6 & 7 (330 OHM 1/4 watt) on your electronic control board with 680 OHM 1/4 watt. As the freezer is working you can probably discount that the reason is low refrigerant gas. The other reasons would be that the fridge circulation fan has failed. or The channel that directs cold air from the freezer is blocked with ice at the rear of the freezer. It happened to my GE and was caused by a failed defrost timer that was icing up the evaporator coils at the back of the freezer. A service call lasts about an hour including melting the ice with a heat gun..

Turn the temp control to max, does the compressor come on? If yes feel the discharge line at the back of the compressor, is it nice and cold? If yes you can eliminate the simple items, make sure all the fans are working inside the fridge and at the rear of the unit. Check to make sure the defrost drain/trap are clear. Let it run for a while, then drop the temp to the usual setting it, and see what happens.

I would seriously NOT recommend doing this! Trying to run a 110 volt appliance at 220 volts is too much power for the electrics inside the refrigerator (or any 110v appliance) to cope with. The solenoid has nothing to do with the crusher mechanism. Rather it delivers water to the ice tray when empty. Check that the ice door closes completely after ice is dispensed otherwise frost can build up in the crusher blades and prevent them from moving into position. It sounds like the drian line may be pluged with frozen ice or debris like food particles and plastic paper etc. when the water is not able to drain it will usually freeze up and effect the cold level in both freezer and fridge. sometimes a bad evaprorator fan will not circulate air can can cause drian plug issues. do u hear the fan operating? if you have a soft long wire or tubing you can unplug the drain line by pushing tube or wire into the line and force food down to exit, see pics Im sending, are you having any issues with freezing in freezer?

You have done some good work, and you are right on the money. Yes you need a new filter. There are o-rings that seal on each filter. These wear out but when you replace the filter you naturally get new o-rings and they seal better :) These seals used to be in the housing, but you can see the problem with that. Once those wear out, you have a much worse problem replacing those then with a filter. It's perfect really, you change the filter because you have too, and get a new seal at the same time!

This is so old that this model (if it is correct) is only mentioned on Fixya. That never happens. If it is correct, you have two options

1. Buy a new one.
2. Go to a local refrigeration spares store with the old one and say "have you go anything like this" and take one that is close from a later model.
