Dishwasher will not start.

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I understand how vague those manuals can be, very frustrating.

In regards to the fault, while the control can be an issue and ultimately require replacement...that is a worst case scenario and certainly not the "starting line".

Typically this fault is prompted due to poor water circulation, which in turn allows the heater to get too hot, ( water circulationg keeps it from overheating under normal conditions ).

The place to start is to pull the pump filter, spray arm and check for food deposit, broken glass, undesolved detergent and general water deposit built up in the sump well.

The key is to get in there and clean it all out, I`ve attached a link at the bottom that will show you how to go about it. It is not really referring to the heating issue, or maybe even your model, ( Most Whirlpool, Inglis, Kenmore, Kitchen-Aid, Jenn-Air ) but it is the same procedure.

It is also possible the heating element is faulty, but I would focus on this solution first and go from there.

When you`re finished, shut you power of to the dishwasher for several minutes and that should clear the error code. Run it through a test cycle and see how it goes.

Let me know how you make out and what you find.

My whirlpool dishwasher just stopped working the

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the cycle doesn't complete, then the first thing that should be checked is the Timer and then the heating element. Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault and required to be replaced. Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next depends, as follows: On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time. On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

DISHWASHER GIVES MESSAGE 2 MINS REMAINING. DOES

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check that the hoses are not kinked, out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) is not plugged, drain pump and filter is not clogged. Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines. First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. If you have checked the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher. It is worth repairing if the issues are mentioned above. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Does not clean very well anymore

Hi,

On this model poor cleaning is typically due to debris in the sump area of the pump that blocks the water intake to the pump. I have put together some instructions on how to remedy this. Follow the link below and let me know if it is helpful.

DU1145XTPBA quiet partner II. Start button doesnt light up/work

The button itself may be bad. It can be checked with an ohmmeter. You can also access the inside of the machine by removing bottom and/or rear panels, then trace the start button connection and test that there is power being send to the control board and also to the motor and any relays if you have them on this machine.

Check out www.applianceart.com they have a ton of options including stainless steel. If your panel is not replaceable, they also have stainless film that can go over your existing panel. Several other options too, some are funny.

Close door, no lights come on, no sign of power.

There is a fuse on your main control board that comes off and can be replaced somewhat easily. Start by TURNING OFF THE POWER. Open the door down to the floor and take a torx(or starhead) screwdriver and remove every screw (10 of them usually) along the left hand side & right hand side of the inner door panel. Upon removing the screws on both sides it will free the outer door panel which can easily be removed by lifting the door back up to a closed position and pulling the top of the panel outward then lift up towards the ceiling and it should slide right off. Push the door back down to a fully open position (door back to the floor)and remove the 4 screws along the top which will free the control panel. Inside you will see a cover that covers the control board and has some arrows on it pointing to some pushtabs. You may be able to unlock these with your finger or get a screwdriver and just pry each one while pulling the cover up. Now you should see your main control board and your fuse, which is attached to the side of the control. It always helps to use your replacement fuse to compare it with. Before trying to yank the fuse off, gently pull the ribbon cable off from the left side of the board. Then go a little more to the left and you will see 2 more release tabs on the side of the board. Pry the tabs back and pull the whole control board upwards and it should pull up an out. With the board out it should be easy to identify the fuse clipped to the side. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry in between the plastic casing on the board and the fuse clip and slide the new one in its place. Always replace the fuse according to manufacter instructions, once removed improper install will lead to a premature failure of the fuse and you will get to do this all over again.
