Durabrand DUR7 Portable DVD Player Questions & Answers
There is no sound
Have you recently used headphones in this device? I have a portable DVD player that had a similar problem. It thought that headphones were plugged in and that turned the sound in the external speakers off. If i plugged in headphones the sound worked in them. So I jiggled the headphone plug in while in the jack and removed it and the sound came back on.

Adaptor not working?
You need a transformer-type adapter that takes an input of 220-240V and steps it down to 120V output. If you bought the unit in the USA, you may have a problem if it is NTSC-only and doesn't have a NTSC-PAL switch to select the correct video format for India.
I have an ASTAR portable
A breakdown of the insulating material between the capacitor plates will do it. Th capacitor should be replaced with one about the same characteristics. An electronic parts suppler will help you identify a replacement.
Sylvania SRD4900 DVD/VCR combo problem
There's a problem with the tape drive, so it's shutting down to prevent damage to the tape. Someone familiar with VCR mechanisms would probably have to see it in action to identify what's wrong. Most of them act in a similar fashion, so if you have a working VCR, you can take the cover off and watch it load a tape, run it, rewind and eject, then compare with the non-working unit. The parts won't be interchangeable, but the tape loading will look much the same. You can comment on what happens and I can try to explain what I think is going on. Better yet, if you could post a video of the internal mechanism while it tries to load a tape, that would be very helpful.

Didn't anyone take shop in grade school and high school?Get any adapter from another brand name that has the same volts and amps.Keep the old adapter if the new adapter has a different tip use the old one.Simple cut but wires on both adapters like 10-12 inches from the tip.Either use wire strippers or burn off the plastic wait a few seconds so you don't burn you fingers pinch the plastic and pull off the plastic repeat if necess.about 1/2 to 1 inch. The outside wire is the ground wire and there is more plastic under the ground wire.Peel down the ground wire twist the wire together; do the same to the other adapter wire the new one.Get some electricial tape interweve bare ground wires together than wrap the ground wire connection like twice or buy the shrink wrap for radio shack. The positive wire is the inside wire strip the positive on the tip adapter wire that fits your dvd player.Do the same for the new adapter. twist the two positives together than wrap with electric tape. Your done you can go to goodwill as-is stores find the adapter pay 80 cents for the used adapter you save ? $20.I found a Mintek adapter 9v 2.2 amp. that was the same as my DUR-10.Then use the wire stripper or do the same as above
I need a replacement rechargeable battery
I would try Google if you have not----most of these battery packs have a generic number right on the label on the battery, did that recently for a friend looking for sealed packs for a large electric scooter, inside found the generic one indicated.
