(hardward failure, monitor. the tests are simple, it fails on 2nd good PC, what can be more simple that test ANY 14 year old monitor on a 2nd good PC. when dead do this.(test2) they are all here when dead again use a FLASH LIGHT. (have 5 classic fail symptoms not just dead) they are short lived, laptops and monitors both back then. 20,00hours on the clock and go bad. bank on it. the 3 failures are CCFL, PSU board, and logic board #1 is CCFL the all died long ago, on average about year 2003 (07 +5= 12, 2012) at 20,000 yours boom dead. or intermittent. (using bench PSU to test them) but you have non of that so. upgrade

Hi, Sounds like an issue of the video card not the monitor. Take to computer shop to verify. One thing you can try is drop the dpi down (refresh rate)a bit. Then try again. If that makes sense to you. Hope that helps.

Hello, It´s not safe to anchor it to the plastic back, monitors usually have a metal frame inside that support the weight of the monitor.

You need to use a ESR meter to check capacitors

Here's some tricks I would try. Something here, might help... 1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor. 2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor. 3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on. 4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works). 5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord. 6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced. 7. Also, you could try your monitor on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers. Good luck.

are you in dual screen mode on a laptop possibly? Check that the laptop is dual enabled so that it is either an extension or a duplication of your main screen. This is common mistake in setting up external monitor on laptop.

you need to look at the geometry settings on the video driver on your computer to find the right set for your monitor. There is some adjustment in your monitor to choose 4:3 or 16:9, but in PC mode this is usually over-riden though.

check your VGA cable and connector that it is securely connected. Sounds like the blue is open or disconnected. If not, the video card on the PC or the receiving card in the monitor is going out,

If you get half of the screen darker, remember that LCd monitor have 2 neon lamp at each extremity of the LCD, when one goes out you get this problem. it is possible to replace the LCD neon lamp, I did it many time, but you need to tear all the monitor appart and be carefull not to break any glass while doing so.

When it have this kind of error is a problem of the power-board. Anyway you must open it and look at the all capacitors and if are them inflated, if them are inflated must change them. But can be a problem with inverters... control the transistors - MOSFET on the powerboard. Good luck!
