Maytag MDBH945AWW: control panel

I have the same dishwasher. I have found that this dishwasher had a control panel problem. After the dishwasher finishes washing you will noticed that the small green lights stay illuminated. Over time this causes the wire ribbon that connects the control panel to the circuit board to become burnt. I have already replaced my control panel once and now it has done it again. i am about to have to order another control panel. That is going to be another $140 dollars out of pocket. The part number for the control panel is( AP4365240). If you have the same dishwasher as I do it should be correct, Open the front door and look on the inside left and you will see the model of the dishwasher. Mine is MDC4650AWB1 Yours may be slightly different. look on the front of the control panel to see if it reads from left to right. High temp wash or extra rinse, sanitize, heated dry, start/cancel, delay, and cycle select. Since the dishwasher is designed poorly and the lights do not go off after drying, if you can after the dishwasher finishes with it's washing and drying be sure to open the door for about 2 min and the lights will go out by themselves. Then you can close it back. This will allow your dishwashr to last longer without the wires burning out. To verify that it is the control panel after you carefully remove it take a look at the wire ribbon that runs from the control panel to the circuit board. Here is a quick class on how to remove the control panel. open the door and on both sides you will find 4 star tip screws. remove them and seperate the door from the backing. After that you will need a socket to remove some hex tip screws that holds the control panel to the door. be sure to remove the black box that contains the circuit board. take the cover off and carefully disconnect the wires. the wire ribbon that connects the control panel is a little tricky. You have to seperate the plastic connector block and the ribbon will slide right out. after you remove it go to http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/whirlpool-panel--con-item-number-ap4365240.aspx and you will be able to order the part online to replace it. Be careful not to drop any of the screws and also pay attention to the door latch when you move it to the side while you work so that you do not break it.This is a response to another similar question but it looks like the same prob. I have found that you cannot just get the buttons you need to get the control panel assembly. Iit it the "flex buttons" they are stuck on by some type of adhesive to the plastic panel. I found that if you just peel off the buttons it messes them up. you need to remove the plastic panel in order to disconnect the control panel from the circuit board.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

You can reset it by pressing two buttons in sequence 3-4 times, to reset your dishwasher press these buttons in sequence:

Normal wash-Air dry-
Normal wash-Air dry

If the issue remains then test the thermal fuse on the control board and if it has continuity then replace the board, if it tests open then replacing the fuse is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Occasionally will not turn on for hours and

Hello,
What you should check on to see if it is causing that problem,is a burnt door switch(s) on the door latch asm. To get the the lacth to check remove the torx (star shaped head) screws from the inner door panel and seperate the inner from outer panel. the latch will in the top center of the inner side of the outer door liner in the control panel. Use a meter set to a low ohms setting and MANUALLY push the little button on the switch and check for zero ohms,if it is more that zero or perhaps even switches from 0-20-0 an dback to 15 or what not the switch is bad. it would only be good if it were constantly zero and never changed.

The auto wash/start/delay start touch controls

It is possible the button contact has moisture or some contaminent. Best to open the control panel and check under the button. Take photos as you go along to make sure it all fits together. You can check the part locations in this diagram.

Maytag quiet series 300 dishes are ''cloudy''

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

You are missing the last digit of the model number. The control overlay is bad. The part number for the white overlay 99003530. This is very common on this model. If you have a different color you will have to look it with the last digit which is the color indicator.

Dishwasher is not draining

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Dishes not getting clean, white film

Hello cljjtm,
You will need to clean the wash arm and unclog the spray holes.. use white vinegar to break down the soap deposit and a sharp metal tool such as an awl to free these holes up from any build up.. white vinegar may be applied while unclogging the openings..
Then, once the spray arm holes are freed of deposits..Start with an empty dishwasher.. and then start a wash on the hottest available setting and then after a few minutes of it cycling.. pause it and add a cup or two of white vinegar to the wash ( the white vinegar should break down any soap residue and allow it to be rinsed away)..once complete.. use about 1/3 less detergent than you have been. See if that gets your DW back in working order.. Hope that helps..
Regards,
Rick

Heating Element Won't Shut Off

Usually when an electric dryer overheats it's because of a defective cycling thermostat or a clogged vent system. Clean any lint from the internal and external ductwork, and/or replace the cycling thermostat

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent
Heating element
Internal ductwork
Cycling thermostat
Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Cycling thermostat Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws.

Grinding noise - Maytag dishwasher MDB7100

I suspect something hard like a fragment of chicken bone or a citrus seed is at the inlet to the drain pump (my favorite was a plastic pull strip from a frozen juice concentrate can - that was LOUD). Many dishwashers have a chopper similar to that in a garbage disposal right before the pump inlet, but some things like bone won't go through it. It could be something light enough to float and only hits the pump when the water level drops. You may have to remove the pump cover in the bottom of the dishwasher to find it. This would be a good time to clean any garbage out of the lower spray arm and check the spray arm bushing for excess wear.

My Maytag quiet series 200 is not cleaning and despite many attempts it is also leaving terrible residue on dishes.

I found this on ehow I believe it will help. How to Troubleshoot Dishwasher Residue By Dale Yalanovsky eHow Contributor 5Found This HelpfulGeorge Doyle/Stockbyte/Getty images Dishwater residue is a fairly common occurrence, and several things can cause it. Even the newest dishwashers may leave residue, and it might have nothing to do with the actual dishwasher function itself. However, there are things you can do to prevent, limit or completely remove dishwasher residue during every washing cycle.

Other People Are Reading

  1. Detergent Residue
    • Modern phosphate-free detergents are the main culprits when it comes to detergent residue. After every wash, many leave a slight whitish residue behind. After several washings, the residue becomes caked on and leaves a noticeable white tint to your dishes. Some dishwasher detergent brands are better than others, and either minimize residue or do not leave any. Once residue is present, however, the only way to remove it is by hand scrubbing or scraping.
    Hard-Water Residue
    • Hard-water residue comes from non-softened water from your hot water tank. Non-softened water leaves a white tint on dishes, but no amount of scrubbing will remove it. Only by wiping a small patch of the dish with vinegar or lemon juice will you be able to ascertain whether the white residue left is hard water or detergent. The slight acidic action of the vinegar or lemon juice removes hard-water stains, but they have no effect on detergent residue.
    Greasy Residue
    • If the dishes feel greasy when they come out of the dishwasher freshly washed, you are dealing with a greasy residue. There are two main reasons for this: either the detergent is not an effective grease remover, or the hot water inside of the dishwasher, either from the hot water tank or the dishwasher's heating elements, is not hot enough. Boosting the hot water temperature on the water tank may solve the problem, and a second wash cycle may be needed for the dishes. A preventive measure of running the dishwasher empty with a full load of detergent also removes the residue inside of the dishwasher.
    Streaking and Spotting Residue
    • If you have spotting or streaking on your dishes, that may be a sign you need a rinse agent. Many modern dishwashers recommend a rinse agent to prevent spotting or streaking, and without one, your dishes will never be crystal clear or streak-free. The next time you do a dishwasher load, add a rinse agent. If the dishes come out spot- and streak-free, the problem is solved.
