Best to replaced same power supply board.Because of voltage and amps in the boad,will burn ur other boards,not same in and out put AC/DC out for other boards.

Power supply board is dead. Tries Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

So 3 universal remotes later I found my solution...a radio shack universal gamer remote. It controls up to 5 components plus your xbox360, playstation and pc. The price on sale was a mere 12.97, not bad if you ask me. Hope this helped. The code that worked for the Akai was 11676. Take care...

If you are using a lcd tv with the 16:9 format as monitor then the 1280X768 is the best resolution to use.
But if your monitor/tv cannot accept this resolution then 1024X768 would be the optimal.

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems the issue is with the power board or the main board we’ll need to check few things. When you open the unit up; take a look at the power board-the board where, the power cords/plugs goes into. You might see some filter capacitors a little bulged up in the top-If this is the case-this is your defective part(you can try to replace them-but some soldering equipment is needed). If not, then probably the main board has gone bad. This is the other board-where all he inputs are going into. Also check for the Backlight Inverter Board if the sound is coming fine from the TV however as its shutting off so it should be either the power board or the main board. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components. . Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

It seems that your unit has some sort of PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

Ur LCD inverter board is dead,must replaced this board to get picture back.It usally a long board.Tries Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com for board part.

If the tv is not set on mute, then you could possibly have a blown audio ouput. Usually caused by overheated and burnt out capacitor near the audio outputs. An ohmmeter can be used on the bottom of the board where the soder joints and then you can test the capacitors. Most are usually around 25-30 ohms.
A difuser and soldering iron will be needed to remove last little bit of stored power in the capacitor. Then solder it off.
Then you can go to tigerdirect.com and purchase a new one.
Or about $250 for replacement by shop.

Ur power supply inverter board is dead.need a new one.

you can buy the new power supply on ebay for less then $20

go to service station

put a fan towards the back vents.if it runs longer,you have bad soldering in the power supply

Nobody seems to be selling that remote.

They sell a substitute remote. Sadly, it's somewhat expensive. It maybe cheaper to try a universal remote.

the ribbon can be replaced but be careful and use gloves to avoid contaminating the componite with the oils from your hands

It sounds more like you have the closed caption selected in the customer menu - you might check that first.. If not you can easily contact Akai customer service at http://www.akaiusa.com/ for any issue including a replacement owner's manual...

connect your allconnectrion to television again.
Also check your power supply and earhing proper working.
Reset all settings to factory defaults.
