Have a Maytag MDG6700AWW gas

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I'll start by saying your post indicates it is a MDG6700AWW Maytag gas dryer. I'm not sure if you know this but this particular Maytag is built by Samsung.

If this is a symptom where the ignitor does glow and ignite the burner the first time but not the second ignition, I would be looking at the burner coils.

This is similar to what you'll be looking for...

macmarkus_638.jpg

Once you've gain access to the coils you'll need to remove the wire harness and check the continuity.

Here's the tricky part though...many times they will ohm out ok when cool (not operating) yet as soon as there is current passing through the coil for a period of time it "opens". The wire inside the coils is so fine that often it only takes a small current to "open" the circuit...thus not igniting the 2nd, 3rd time and so on.

Most times it will only be one coil that fails but it is good practice to replace them both, many places used to sell them in a kit so double check with your supplier. I've attached a link here, though it may be different than your model the principles to changing the coils are the same.

As far as what part you may need and how to get it. There are a couple of places I prefer, on-line at "searspartsdirect.com" or "repairclinic.com".

Kit contains both the two wire and three wire solenoids. One solenoid is the primary and one is the safety. Both have to operate for the gas valve to open. Usually, one of them burns out as I said but you should always replace them as a set, thus it is usually sold this way.

**unplug the appliance and turn off the gas supply before attempting any service...safety first**

The common coils (this included your Maytag built by Samsung) is part number 35001190 at "repairclinic" as this link should provide you.

Let me know how you make out or if you require further assistance and I'll do whatever I can. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Why wont my Maytag Neptune gas dryer stay hot when I'm drying my cloths?

If you are sure that it is a gas powered dryer, the problem could be thermostat, flame sensor etc.

Error codes 3 and 10

need to test with multimeter, door code error could be a faulty door switch which would hinder machine from operating. I suggest checking the glo bar and ceramic igniter for the going off problem, in electric dryers maybe in gas as well bad motor windings can cause it to go off and on?

Why is my dryer not drying?

could be a bad venting situation? lots of lint? kinked or clogged vent lines? or might want to have ur heating element checked with a multimeter most appliance parts stores will do it for free, ( if they have the impression u will be buying one from them) also have ur cycling thermostat checked and the hi-lo thermostat just to be on safe side

How to remove front

The first step is to take out the screws that hold on the door. Now look across and you will see two more screws holding on plastic clips. Those are there so the door can be mounted left or right . The door will come off with a little up and down motion. Now grab the metal frame on both sides ( where the door was mounted) and it will snap off. The rest you should be able to figure out. Hope this helps. Wayne.

No dryer heat

If the coils are bad the unit will light with flame for 4 - 8 times then all of a sudden the ignitor will glow, kick off with no gas coming threw valve. it sounds like the high limit thermostat is short cycling the flame. This is the thermostat that sits on top of the burner chamber. remove 1 screw from the thermostat and blend it upwards away from the heat. Then plug unit back in and test to see if the flame stays on longer. Click here to see maytag dryer no heat posts. Contact me anytime here. Hope this helps..

Why will my dryer not turn on. Had been working

Please check the electrical outlet in and around the area in which your appliance is plugged into. Even thou the breaker, fuze, and cable are fine, you will have to PUSH IN the cut off TRIP button located on the AC plug in panel. There are several located throughout most kitchen/appliance areas that will cut off all electricity to a specific set of plugs. If you still need help, please return.

Problem with the Maytag Neptune

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

When the dryer heats for few minutes and then it won't work it means that the thermostat is bad and needs replacement. This part is located on the blower wheel housing inside the duct, you can also check this part for continuity before replacing. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
