No picture. The unit has been working fine for the last two years trouble free and the other day we turned it on and it was fine then a couple of hours later the picture was gone. The sound works fine and I unplugged it for about 5 minutes to try and reset but still No picture.

Repaired one of these with the same symptoms about two weeks ago. My guess is that the SMPS has failed. In laymen's terms the power supply, Samsung p/n#Bn96-00249a and you should be able to purchase it at Vance Baldwin http://www.vancebaldwin.com/ and just sign in as a guest, select parts# and input the number above (no dashes). Be seated when you do they're a bit spendy - - about $270.00 dollars plus shipping and a $50.00 core... You get that back when you send them the old one.. After you get the back off the PS is located in the middle of the unit at the top of the screen. If you need the service manual to help just let me know. It's actually an easy plug and play repair... Testing the BN96-00249A power supply in an Akai PDP4294

My set is about 4 years old and does not function. There is no picture. I have checked the fuse on the power supply board (BN96-00249A) and it is fine. Is there a way to check the various outputs to ensure the PS is at fault before I order a replacement PS board? Regards Tim

Daewoo 42 Plasma - Model DT4280NH

Since moving my plasma TV it has developed a coloured vertical line about 1 pixel wide - over time more coloured vertical lines are appearing - now I have 10 lines - some green some blue, black & red. TV is 4 years old...Is this repairable? Could it be a case of me opening the back and twiddling a few dials? Or could it be I simply need to swap out a faulty component - I am reasonbly technical - any advice greatly received.

Same thing for me. TV just turned off one day and won't come back on. LED flashes red. Someone said it's because a cooling fan went out. If I can't find someone to fix it I'll take it apart and tinker myself. 32" with dvd built in was barely over a year old.

Here is the solution. For less that 100$ your Magnavox Plasma TV. Model # 50MF2310/37 will be running like a champ.

Issue:

Magnavox Plasma TV. Model # 50MF2310/37 screen has no picture. There is no sound, TV comes on and then after a few seconds clicks and screen remains blank.

Cause:

On the main power circuit board to Capacitors are prone to failure from over load. The caps are 3300uf 10v 105+c capacitors located to the left of the AC power input.

Service:

Magnavox will refer you to a service center. They will advise $$$ for an inspection. They will also want to charge upwards of 500$ to replace the entire board.

Solution:

1. Unplug your TV
2. Disconnect all connections from your TV
3. With assistance lay your TV on its face on a non-scratching service
4. Remove the back panel screws.
5. Lift back panel off
6. The central board is your main power board.
7. Remove all wire harnesses from the main board.
8. Remove all screws that are holding the main board in place.
9. Lift the main board out and carefully place it into a non electromagnetic pouch.
10. Take the board to a Circuit Board repair shop.
11. Have them replace the the above mentioned Caps.
12. Re-install the board in your TV.

NOTE: Replace the caps with 3300uf 16v 105+ high temp caps(preferrably Japanese caps)

This fix cost me 80$ and my time to search for other who had the same issue. Try searching for Magnavox Plasma TV. Model # 50MF2310/37 bad circuit board or Magnavox Plasma TV bad capacitors or Magnavox Plasma TV bad ciruit board.

Hope this all help, Magnavox is should take ownership for this problem and recall any tv's that have these caps in them. The worst part about this is that teh **** from the repair center that was paid 100$ to check the TV, stripped out the screw holes and damaged the case for the TV.

Portland Laptop Repair was awesome. They repaired the board and it looked like new. Check them out at http://www.laptopportland.com/

My picture has blown and i want to remove the tv from THE WALL MOUNT. I do not remember attaching the tv to the wall mount with any screws or bolts. It seems that there are 4 knobs on the back of the tv that slid into slots on the wall mount, but when i try to lift tv out of slots it seems to be locked. 50" Magnavox Plasma TV will not turn on - Red LED blinking 4x

I have a 50" Magnavox Plasma (Model# 50MF231D/37). For the past few days it has been slow to bring up a picture. I'll get sound immediately but it would take a couple of minutes for the screen to "warm up". This morning, the TV will not turn on at all. I push the power button on the side of the TV, the light goes green like it's going to turn on and then the green light changes into a red light that blinks 4 times. I've gone onto the Magnavox website to troubleshoot my problem. They suggested I perform a software update. Well, I tried that and the TV goes into the blinking red light mode before the software update has a chance. I've owned the TV for about 1.5 yrs and I bought it from Wa-Mart for a steal because it was a display model. I'm sure that in itself creates it's own problems. I bought an extended warranty, but if it is a simple fix, I'd rather not send my TV out for lengthy repairs. The BCS National Title Game is next Thursday! :o) Thanks! Moriah

When you have the red light that blinks four times on the 50" Magnavox Plasma Model 50MF231D/37, you should look for the capacitors on the power board in the center of the of the TV. Look for two 3300uf, 10V, 105c capacitors that have a build up of pressure that has caused the top of the capacitor to look rounded instead of the flat top that will be on all of the other capacitors. Changing these two capacitors fixed the problem of the TV not coming on.
I had more trouble finding the capacitors than changing them. I could not find them locally so I went to an on-line electronics supply store where they were $1.65 each and $8.99 to ship.
