Took the memory card out

The CHA error indicates an issue with the memory card in the camera.

Try another card and see if that works ok.

Also, always format cards in the camera.

In case the error comes back on a new card, you will need to send the camera to Nikon.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this free solution.

When I take photos the

higher iso settings allow you to use a faster shutter speed. This can be extermely helpful when handholding your camera, especially with the telephoto end of some zoom lenses on small digital cameras. Faster shutter speed will also freeze action better.

automatic white balance can be useful for shooting quickly in changing light conditions; however I rarely select auto as my standard. the auto setting often gives inconsistent results simply because it is an auto function that is making the best of a world that varies in terms of color and light.

The following is a brochure for your camera from the digital archives:
http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/digitalcamera/slr/d100/index.htm
originally the camera had the following storage specifications: CompactFlash™ (CF) Card (Type I/II) and 512MB/1GB Microdrive™

---
If there is an internal memory, then sometimes the memory holds the pictures you took, and not the external memory card.

My camera no longer does autofocus. what can i do

I think the best thing you can do here is go to the Nikon website, follow links for support and downloads and check see if there's a firmware upgrade for your camera.

If that's a none starter, there may be a forum on the website where others have had the same problems and resolved it,

Finally, you could consult their tech. staff to see if there's a simple resolution.

The picture wont shoot

Hi,
looks like you don't have the aperture ring on the lens set & locked to the minimum aperture. I believe there is a red marking for the smallest aperture on the lens (has the largest f/-number, depending on the lens, could be 22 e.g.) and you can lock this in with a tiny switch. This setting is needed to allow the automatic exposure to work properly and can lock the camera down if not set.

The pictures I take with my Nikon D100 come out

First thing to check is the shutter control or maybe what speed your shutter is on. Check your settings and you'll probably find something is switched to the wrong setting. Try switching everything to Auto, including anything menu operated your manual should explain how to get to your on-screen menu. Try that and if no good, post back and we can take it from there.
With cameras getting more compact and buttons getting closer together and smaller it's very easy to knock a switch the wrong way without realising it.

When i try and take a picture the camera continues

Hi,

Could this be the auto focus?
Try this, put what you want to focus on in the center of the screen, in the [ ] part.
Lightly press the shutter button and keep the pressure on.
The camera will focus and then wait.
If you now press the shutter button all the way down the camera will take the picture.

The r06 just means the camera can take 6 more pictures quickly before the picture buffer fills up.
Unless you are using the fast drive mode this will not matter to you.

I hope this helps.

Error r06 in viewfinder when focus is locked

Hi,

This is not an error, this is telling you how many more continuous shots you can take before the buffer fills up and you have to wait a while for it to empty.
Take a few quick shots and you will see it go down.
It means R(emaining) shots.

I used to worry about this.

Hope this helps.
