took the board to friend who works on TV's.he tested the board and replaced the 2 black IC's #STK 392-040 .I re-installed the board and TV so far is working fine. hope this helps !

Your TV most likely has a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

IF this is a dlp tv , the first thin you need to do is replace the lamp. J.D.W.

do me a favor, if the set is still together, please remove the back, and find the convergence card... it is on the upper right hand side. Unplug the RED plastic plug ONLY. Now try to turn on the TV. If it turns on, but the picture looks completely out of convergence, then yo uneed to replace the 2 STK392-040 IC's and you will have to test all of the 3.9 ohm resistors on the board. You will usually find 1 or 2 bad. let me know what you find.

This is DVD MIKE with Perfectimagess.Try this first .Unplug the TV for a while and press the On/Off button which is supposed to perform a "reset".After that, plug the TV back in. It should come on and the Timer light off. The picture and colors might be distorted, but pressing the Perfect Focus button on the remote control resolves this right away.

The problems is a black picture or the TV won't turn on. The Timer light stays lit even though no Timer has ever been set. The colors converge and the picture is pinched. I don't think all of the expensive repairs are necessary, My TV did go out after a week of non-use while out of town (I was out of town, not the TV). I don't know. I'll post more if I learn more. Vacuum the dust off of the circuit boards and inside the cavity. TAKE CLOSE UP PICTURES OF THE CONNECTORS BEFORE DISCONNECTING FROM THE CIRCUIT BOARDS. (IF YOU HAVE TO.) TAKE OUT CIRCUIT BOARD MOUNTING SCREWS. AND REMOVE THE BOARDS.

VACUUM THE DUST. LOOK- SMELL AND CLEAN THE GROUNDS, AND CAREFULLY CLEAN THE BOARDS. ASSEMBLE. DOUBLE CHECK CONNECTIONS WITH PHOTOS,
AND PLUG IN, TURN ON AND HOPEFULLY ITS ALL GOOD.

Unplug for 24 hours, then try again. Also check batteries in remote. If neither works, have unit cheked by pro/tech

sounds like the high voltage problem from high voltage socket, check with an expert tech.

FWIW... my Akai PT4298HD just quit also, same symptoms. Just 2 years old. Will continue to search for solution.

Sounds like a power supply issue. Does the power indicator light up? Can you hear a click when the power button is pressed?

depends if you have a cable service. Cable companies will still broadcast in analog because they are a closed system same with sat. only other way to tell if you have a digital tuner is by one a cable/satalite card or when doing the tv programing it asks digital?

I'd like you to turn the color all the way down and let me know if the over-all picture looks Black&White or as we call it gray. Did this just happen or has it been changing over time?

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.
