The picture is formed from three lamps in the base of the TV. These lamps have a fluid filled lens on each of them and the Glycol in this fluid degrades after time. This fluid can also have a mold or algae growing in it. Check the lamps visually first BUT DON'T touch the driver circuits ( this would be very bad for you) with them turned on and off. If you need to change the fluid, be very careful as leaks happen very easily. If you get any of this fluid onto the driver board it will damage the tracks etc VERY QUICKLY. You must replace the fluid with the correct fluid at the correct level and amount and wash your hands afterwards as Glycol is a poison. I do not think that this is an electronic fault as the orange tinting leads me towards a fluid issue.

You have a focus/screen control box Find it and adjust the R/G/B screen drives When you first start Go to Menu turn Color off then with a mirror adjust the picture as close as you can to a black and white picture R/G/B screen drives, the little control box you are looking for will have 3 controls on top for focus and 3 controls under them for screen drives to each tube red,green,blue after you have adjusted to a black and white picture then go back and turn color on.

I think it does,most all hdtvs have them.

Pops' are never a good thing to hear especially from rear screen sets. Could be that one of the three CRT's went/impolded. Could also be a Capacitor that blew also. Might be best to call a RV repair shop that works on Akai's - I think Magnavox builds Akai's but that's a guess.

hello it sounds like convergance chip may be the trouble

Ur high voltage have prob,it ur FBT the big block of plastic red wire solder to the deflection board.

akai is a samsung tv. you have a defective convergence board. suggest local service center. sorry

There might really be a problem with the unit. Try unplugging it out of the power outlet and plug it back in after 30 seconds. If your using a power box (voltage regulator), try plugging it directly to the outlet. If all nothing happens, see a local tv tech in your area. The unit could be damaged.

Downtown off sixth street. Just kidding. This set has an a/c power supply located outside the wooden frame that secures the main and deflection circuit boards. Very seldom does this cause a problem though. The most common problem in my experience is convergence failure. Testing this is easy. The convergence board is seperate and is mounted above the others. Small pcb with large heatsink. Removing the blue wires with the red plug(I think it's a 5 pin plug) should restore power if set is in shutdown due to that failure. Then you can just try to replace that board if avail. Next problem on this set is coolant can start leaking from the tubes and go onto the circuit boards. Use a bright light and a good pair of eyes to examine the board closely, looking beneath the picture tubes for moisture or drops or corrosion on boards. Please make sure tv is disconnected from power source while testing and good luck, Russmann.

GO THROUGH TRACING THE MAIN CORD, IT WILL LEAD YOU TO MAIN BOARD, MOST PROJECTION TV HAVE 2 OR MORE BOARDS.....IF YOU ARE ABLE TO SEE BIG CAPACITORS HAVING 400V OR MORE VALUE, THATS THE ONE..CHECK OUT..

You have a convergence board out of adjustment or faulty the best way to tell this is to have a estimate done on it but I can tell you its a convergence issue that is not fix can get worse over time.

It still can be fix, the unit need an immediate repair, a problem on the video output module has something to do with this, a burnt resistor or capacitor has to be replaced.

On your AC power suppy Board their is a Thyrsistor heat sink Resolder it or replace it Visit on website Encompass Electronic.com or call 1-800-638-3328

Call Encompass for Parts same as samsung cheaper just to replace boards 1-800-638-3328 power supply board will have number on it.

Try recycling the power, Unplugg the power cord wait at least 2 mins ant then plug back in. Some times by turning it off an on rapidly will cause the microprocessor to lock up or freeze. Much like a computer does when you have to reboot it..

Look at AC power supply board they are bad about poor solder joints resolder thyrisitor on board.

You put the lens or tube on backawards...
