The red is curved and dosen't match up

This sounds like you have a problem with convergence - Yhe convergence output IC's would need to be changed - usual repairs cost between $200-$300.

AKAI PT5598HD - I HAVE REPLACED THE CONVERGENCE

Most of these sets have a SCREEN/FOCUS block---usually all black with 6 controls----you need to look close at it as one row of 3 will be screen controls---don't touch those----the other 3 will be FOCUS- MARKED in little letters will be r,g,b(red, green blue). TWO ways to adjust the focus: 1. carefully locate the blue focus control and adjust to see if blue will improve in focus. 2. each of the 3 large lens where the picture comes out have a wing nut and a slot--you can loosen the nut and turn the lens---usually best focus that way is if the part that turns is in the middle of the available area to move it.

I should point out that all projection sets intentionally de focus the blue--the lines if blue should be clear but never as perfect as green or red--this is normal.

I do this here for free so if this has been helpful give me a vote here.

Only reddish hue color for entire screen

In most cases these CRT projection sets made by Samsung for Akai are notorious for fouled cooling liquid in one or more of the CRT's. The CRT's in most cases are no longer available.

Samsung rear projection

Unfortunately can't offer any specific solution for you but based on your description obviously you already know it is a big thing.

The best advise I can offer you or any of the others looking to buy is don't buy Samsung anything. I have been selling and installing high end electronics systems for many years and I won't use anything Samsung!

AKAI PT5598HDI Colors out of line.

http://www.fixya.com/support/t1663670-akai_samsung_pt4299hd_convergence Adjust the convergence manually. It's a pain and takes alot of patience. The diagram for the remote buttons helps a lot. If it won't adjust you'll have to replace a part inside the tv. Good luck! Hopefully it'll adjust.

AKAI PT4299D BLURRY AND STRETCHED

It's the convergence. http://www.fixya.com/support/t1663670-akai_samsung_pt4299hd_convergence That's where I fixed mine. Hopefully all the colors will be adjustable, if not you have to replace the circuit board. Sounds like yours will be fixable without doing that. Good luck! It's kinda a pain to do manually.

Do not panic! Do not throw your TV away like I wanted to! Here is what may be the solution for most of the members who have posted their complaints here recently. I am not an expert, but I followed all blogs from various websites and forums, and the conclusion was the same;replace the convergence board for this model. I purchased it from www.partstore.com and since this Akai is the same model asa comparable Samsung Model, buy the Samsung comparable Convergence board for $77. It came to about $85 after shipping. Call them if you need the exact model #. The Convergence board has two black STK ICs and two colors of wires, a gray kind and a blue kind, all which have 'pins' and can easily be unplugged from the circuit board in the TV. It is basically a complete system that takes less than 30 minutes to install. It is a simple swap procedure, with no soldering. You only need the new board and a screwdriver! Remove the lower backboard of your TV where the cables are plugged in (do not unscrew all the screws for the screen, as it is unnecessary, and might just damage your screen if you are not careful.) It has a u-like shape and comes off easy.Detach the gray wires connecting your old board to the rest of the circuitry, and detach the blue wires connecting the old board to the circuitry. On the old board, there are connectors marked, from left, blue, green and red. Detach those from the old board, and mark the wires so that you may connect the correct the wires to the new board. You then unscrew the only screw connecting the board to the TV,and unhook the board from the TV. Hook the new board to the hooks which held the old board, and screw the lone screw to the board. Plug the gray cables from the new board to the connectors where the gray cables from the old board were, and do so for the blue cables. Connect the multicolored cables to the blue, green and red, just as was done on the old board. Reattach the cover and test the TV. Please do not replace the two STK ICs only. When I removed my old board, I realized that there was a burn mark, where the ICs were, but maybe it was a fuse. You may replace the ICs only to discover that it was another problem.Good luck, and I wish you all the best in the repairs. I just saved about$100 for a repairman just to show up.

AKAI PT5598HDI 55 Where is fuse located

This problem is beyond a blown fuse most likely. The fuses for the unit are located on the circuit boards and the back will need to be removed to access them. This problem could be due to a missing voltage that is used to turn on the picture section of the electronics. I would search for a used unit on ebay or parts on ebay and swap out the boards. The board swap is not too complex but voltages are dangerous within the set and service by a qualified electronics technician is recommended on this unit. Thanks and good luck. Dan

My akai screen got wet from the rain what do i do

If you haven't already powered it up, turn it upside-down to disperse and standing water that may be in the set, and then let it stand for 3-4 days to completely dry out BEFORE even plugging it in. Water doesn't hurt electronics by itself, it's the electrolysis that occurs when electronics are energized while wet that causes damage.

Keeps blowing fuse

You will probably be replacing boards left and right with a surge. I would make a claim with the insurance company, it's covered under most home owner's insurance.
