Hotpoint RVM1635 Microwave Oven Questions & Answers
No power at unit. Power to plug
Jim, Take the screws out that hold the cover on your unit and then take the cover off. Find where your cord goes into the machine and follow the black wire from the cord, it normally should go to a small circuit board and your fuse is usually mounted on that circuit board. It will be a 15 amp fuse and you usually can get one of those at most appliance parts stores. If there is not a circuit board the black wire may go directly to an in-line fuse holder. Hope this helps.

sounds like the control board, but most times the magnetron fails and if a fuse failed then it needs a capacitor too
Turntable not rotating
Most likely the gear is stripped. Pull up the turntable and then run it. Watch the wheel and see if it is spinning without the turntable.
Fuse keeps blowing in hotpoint microwave
The magnetron is the other issue, high voltage diode will sometimes crack causing a high level short, the capacitor developes a dead short across the 2 points, the power transformer almost never fails, "very rare"
Paint on stove
You can use paint removers which are available with any paint shop, Normally THINNER or even turpentine will be good , try also with kerosene which is mild and will not remove too much of the inner coat.
Beneath the time on the clock. The word "mute"
I have 2 possible solutions for you.
1) press and hold the 0 button for 3 seconds. This may only turn the clock display on or off, but may also mute or unmute the beeps.
2) unplug the unit for 30 seconds to a minute. Plug it back in and it should be reset.
No power to oven. Receptacle it is plugged into
Dead appliance, power on wall outlet.
YOUR
SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!
Attempt
this only if you are competent.
If
your appliance has absolutely no functions at all, remove it from the
mains supply, remove the case and see where the mains lead goes in to
the appliance and follow the cable until you find the main fuse.
ONLY
USE THE SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE TO REPLACE IT.
The usual
cause of this fuse failure is the door switches are contaminated or
sticking. Check the door switches before putting power back on to the
appliance.
Hope this helps.
My micrwave oven continues to
The problem may be a defective door switch, or the door is out of alignment, or you have a short in the keypad control. This should be looked at right away because it is exposing you to radiation hazard. I highly recommend appliance technician check the unit asap.
Panel doesnt work reads pf
Hi
PF means power failure, to resolve this issue take a hair
dryer and with the unit unplugged and the control apart blow air on the
electronic part of the control. If the issue returns then the control board
should be replaced. Hope this helps...

Hello &
Welcome to FixYa
F3 error in
your unit means shorted key panel (touch pad assembly) and is displayed when a
shorted key panel is detected continuously over 60 seconds. Try to blow some
air on the touch pad assembly, if this won't work then replacing the keypad is
recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Lights and fan quit working
there are fuses inside the microwave but there not the kind you would have in the house,,unless you can buy them it cant be fixed by you,
When you plug in the microwave you have a humming
It sounds like the cook relay on the control circuit board is shorted and it's cooking when it shouldn't.
With the model number, we can offer more specific advice or an estimate.
But since FixYa does not notify us experts of follow-ups, you will need to post a new help request.
How do I adjust the power levelthen start the
Press "Power" until you get to the level you want. Then enter the # of minutes on the keypad (CANNOT use express cook times.) An alternating runnig hum will let you know the setting is working.
HOW DO YOU REPLACE MEGATRON IN GE SPACESAVER 1400
We have a service manual which covers many of these type microwaves and have uploaded it them to our site here to help you.
There
should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit
behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.
At
our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
You can find helpful
exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model
number here.
We're
happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your
thoughtful rating of our answer.
Same problem but without the noise!
You probably have a bad magnatron tube. this is the heart of the system and works by exciting the molecules to heat. If you don't hear the tell tell buzzing noise then it is the mag tube. They can be costly to replace
If the timer, lights, menu, etc, all work, but the tube does not turn on (the typical power noise), could it possibly be a problem with the interlock from the door/handle when it is closed?? (the safety switch that keeps the magnetron from exciting the water molecules in the skin on your face/hands and your eyes)?? Its in the housing where the door latch inserts. Just a thought as I have seen the same prob, but if the tube sounds like it goes on (usually the lights may slightly dim from a tube's power drain to help indicate that this is the case), then your tube may not be fully functional, if at all.
