Electric start stuck
First, start by abandoning FixYA, as they are totally worthless, misleading, and a complete waste of time.
Then google Gas range problems. There you will find blogs that are free, immediate, and helpful. All the valves have a springloaded switch that activates the sparker. When grease gets in the way, the spring cannot overcome the tackiness. I simply removed the valve knob in question and used a flat head screwdriver and gently eased the switch up, then used a paper towel with alcohol and glided it in around the troubled area to remove the gook. Once I got rid of the gook, the switch moved freely, as it should, and the continuous sparking ceased.
