For the remote URC2082 you can set a code manually by doing the following. Make sure the appliance is on, aim the total remote at it and hold setup untill red light flashes twice, type 9 9 1 and it should flash twice again. Press power and then press channel + until appliance switches of, as soon as this happens press setup and the light will flash twice again. This will store the code and can be used on everything I've tried so far.

On the TV-use your finger to adjust the volume level, about midway, then use the remote to shut off the tv, then turn on tv with remote. Volume level should be better! If still not loud enough...using your finger on the tv...turn up volume & repeat remote steps.

You might need to get the RC65 direcTV remote control, you can find them on e-bay relatively cheap, other that that i got mine to work with the code 11864!!

PaulTulsa is actually incorrect, Directv remotes do allow this function. I had this problem too... but was able to fix it. You have to go back into the system settings menu. Depending on your receiver (I have the hr21-100) press "Menu" then scroll to "Parental, Fav's & Setup" then "Sytem Setup" then "Remote" then select "Program Remote". Scroll to "TV" then select the brand name (I also have a Samsun tv). Follow the directions to change the code of the remote and manually go through the codes they have posted. The second one worked for me. Good luck.

If there are any other codes, I would try them first. Different codes sometimes partially work but not fully work. There should be one code that completely works fine. If not, try a different remote.
