Turn the tv on. Hook up your components, turn them on, go in to tv menu and auto program the stations. It will see that there is a signal on channel 3 and lock it in for you.

You should be able to locate the model of your remote on the back of the DISH remote at the top, usually a two to three digit number with a decimal point. Do not expect that all universal remote controls will work perfectly with all devices. There will be some fucntions remain non-touchable. This is common for any brand of universal remote controls to any devices. Only thing can try is, to try an other code from the list of the remote with the device to be synchronised with, and select the code which will give you maximum functionality. This is a try and error mentod.
For example, if we synchronise a Samsung TV with an RCA universal remote, whichever model it may be, whatever colde in the list is entered, "its power ON/OFF finction will not energised. So be keep in mind, "Original can replace with no duplicates" OK.

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

This is actually because you are using the wrong code. Although the remote is adjusting the volume, it is not actually the correct code for your TV. If re-program the remote with the correct code, the volume control will work as you would like it to.

I can't tell you which code to use as I don't know which brand or model number of TV you have. If you have the DirecTV remote code list, please try the other codes for your TV brand. Please make a note of the code you are currently using before trying other codes in case you have difficulty finding the correct code and end up with a remote that wont operate your TV.

If you don't have the code list or you can't find a code which will operate the volume control correctly, please let me know the brand and model number of your TV. This problem is most common with Samsung TVs.
