JBL CREATURE II Computer Speakers - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Sound problem with JBL Creature II
I had a problem with the speakers not working properly. The green lights lit, but the amount of sound coming from the speakers compared to that of the sub was much lower.
I decided to take it the speakers apart.
I found that the magnets on the speakers had moved forward slightly in the plastic cage they sat in. I pushed them back as far as they would go, and Hey Presto! working again!
I hope this helps someone!

If you are running Microsoft Windows, make sure the speaker
setup is correct by following the steps below. Select Hardware and sound or just Sound in the Control Panel window. In Windows XP and older, click Manage audio devices under Sound. On the Playback tab, select your speakers

All sounds on my computer sound like they're in an echo chamber
I had this problem. I right clicked on the speaker icon at the bottom right hand corner of the screen, selected playback devices, left clicked to highlight the 'speakers' (realtek in my case) then clicked properties in the lower right of the open window, clicked on the enhancements tab, and found that my sound effect properties had been changed to auditorium. I clicked the selection arrow and changed the enhancements to 'none'. Oh happy day! No more echo.
JBL Creature doesn't work
Its not a problem, but all you need to do is push the pins at the back a little more...I know it feels like pins are all the way in, but they really aren't.

One of the jbl creature speakers doesn't work
I had the same problem one time and it was a loose connection in the speaker. I will work on any computer but I stay away from anything else. :-) A buddy opened her up and fixed her for me. If it is new, think about taking it back to the store. Thank goodness the prices have come down so much that I am considering getting Bose instead and blasting myself onto the wall behind me. :-)
I used the left hand pad on the control unit to
- Check the power connections on your speakers, make sure that the power LED's on the small speakers are lit.
- Make sure the green cable is connected to the computer's speaker port (Usually a green headphone-type jack) and also the the speaker- a similar type jack.
- Adjust system volume by clicking, drag volume slider bar up to about 75%, and release.
- Turn up speaker's volume using the volume (and bass volume) knob on the main speaker.
- Play an audio file. Note that if you are using Windows Media Player, etc. you may need to turn volume up there also.
- If you are still having trouble go to start/control panel and select sounds. This will show your installed audio devices. If there are no devices, then please provide the make model, etc. of your computer and I will go from there.
- Test the devices in another setting will help identify a hardware problem. For example, test your speakers with an MP3 player, or your computer's CD-ROM usually has a headphone jack; test the audio on your PC with a set of headphones, or another set of speakers. If either of these fail it may indicate a hardware problem. Feel free to post back any additional information and I will try to provide further help. Please include your make, model, and version of windows so I can provide specific info for your PC.
I found the following info on your speakers, which you may also find helpful:

Speakers, no sound
Since they were working, check the basics first.
- Check the speakers on another device. Mp3 player will work fine.
- check the sound card on your computer (use a set of headphones or another speaker set).
- If you find they weren't plugged in, powered on, etc. resolve that. Usually the power plugs are black, and only fit in one spot. The audio cable to plug into the computer is similar to a headphones jack (3.5mm). On most computers the audio output (speakers) port is colored green.
- If none of these get you fixed, go into the control panel and click the sounds icon. From there you can view your volume levels (is the sound muted?), view your playback device (it might have a hardware problem, or be disabled), and test the settings.
- If you are still stuck after this please also post your version of windows, and the make/model of your computer. If you know it, the type of audio device you are using would also be helpful.
Thanks for asking, and Good Luck!
JBL Creature Speakers
I fixed a similar problem I was having. It requires a little work.
Take out the four screws from under the broken speaker. Carefully remove the cover, separating the speaker from the base. The two are wired together so don't pull them apart with force. Then remove the single screw, which is much larger the the previous four, and separate the speaker from the top cover.
If you chose you can remove the wires from the speaker, they just snap on, but its not required.
What I found is the speaker issue is not with the wire or the power, but the speaker it's self. On the back there is a big round metal piece. On my speaker that piece was pushed towards the front of the speaker. When I looked at the good speaker, that big piece was all the way back. So I simply pulled it back and presto, instant fix!
I hope this works for you.
Should the power supply be hot to the touch
your psu should not be getting to hot to touch try blowing it out using a fine air blower from an air compressor making absolutely sure there is no moisture in the airlines you will need to open up your computer blowing dust from the inside out or you might remove it to blow air through ittake a note of where the wires connect if you decide to remove itif your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers make sure you have selected the
(appropriate speakers) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there
click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it hope this helps

Without seeing it it is hard to tell, but it could be that the speaker cone is out of the magnet hole, and is missaligned, in other words the voice coil could be sitting on top of the magnet instead of in the magnet hole... If you DELICATELY push on the speaker cone does it move in and out???
