Wharfedale SW150 Subwoofer Questions & Answers
My WHARFEDALE DIAMOND SW150 SUBWOOFER
I had the exact same thing, no sound at all but light on and heatsink slightly warm. Returned amp module to Wharfedale and it was diagnosed as a fault in the muting circuit and repaired under warranty. Asked for a circuit diagram but they don't give them out while the equipment is still in production.
Manual to connect sw8 sub
The SW8 and SW150 have line level and speaker level inputs. It has a line level output, which will not drive speakers without using a separate amp for the signals.
Apart from the "line input"
input and output are for low level ( as with RCA cable connectors) ,, the speaker connections are for high input, (red and black connections. ) you can run the mains to the (rca) from your receiver to run the sub woofers, and from that use the speaker wire connections, to go to the left right speakers, (out only not in) this is done if you want to run the subs and the Rt/lt/ speakers , eliminating the speaker connections coming from the receiver. which you could use for 2 additional speakers if you want
It lights up but does
Possible that the fuse has blown or the power amplifier is defective. you will need to remove to check even to check the sub woofer coil for continuity - if the coil has opened up or is damaged.
Can I connect my floorstanders
What 'floorstanders'?
Its internal amp is for its own subwoofer ONLY, but if you use your own amp's full-range speaker-level outputs to feed two chanels entering the sub you can tag the 'floorstanders' onto the sub's speaker terminals as speaker wire extenders. Your amp will be powering the floor units.
I'd keep the sub separate and feed it LFE only if it was mine.
Too much bass...low end
Hi, have you tried adjusting the "subwoofer level", and or the "subwoofer cut" controls? Every sub I have ever seen has at least the level control on the back. The "cut or crossover" control determines the frequency at which the sub will start to respond. Additionally, you may need to access the appropriate menu on you reciever and adjust the "low frequency effects" (LFE) output level (assuming you have connected your sub to the reciever's sub output jack.
Hope this helps.
