Cambridge Audio Azur 340A 2-Channel Amplifier Questions & Answers
I have problem with my
First thing to check would be to disconnect all of the speaker wiring from the back, then turn the amp on, if it stays on, you need to check all speakers and all wiring for shorts. If it still shuts down, there is an internal problem and would need to be serviced. That being the case, I would strongly suggest that you meter out all wiring for shorts and check all connections at speakers, and the speakers themselves for problems prior to re-installation of the amp. It is a very well built product! Chances are good that it is a wiring issue, one little braid of wire touching another, can ruin a day! If you need more detailed help troubleshooting beyond this, post a comment/reply, and I can help you further. Hope this helps.
Hi, I have a Marantz PM 57 Amplifier that is not
After a move and something doesn't work that could have before, it's always best to check inside for signs of damage. It might just be a bad soldering joint, so it could be just a small amount of damage.
Turn volumne up over half
It's going into "safe" mode. Basically you're overdriving your speakers and amp is sensing it. Check for proper him rating at speakers vs output rating of amp. If they match up, then one of your speakers is causing the issue.
I have a Cambridge audio turntable which looses
Might be a weak relay or transistor in that channel, they both will stop and reset when overheated. make sure you're ready to test it when it does this again, this may help you locate the bad component. I'm leaning towards the transitor, because they also amplify sound signals in radio frequency.
My amplifier shuts down leaving
Hello,
your amplifier is having a power problem. The power supply board is defective that's why its shutting down. Its receiving power but it cannot transfer the current to the necessary part of the amplifier because a capacitor, diode, etc may have been faulty. Until these bad components are replaced, the amplifier might continue to malfunction.
If you know about electronic repairers, I would suggest that you open the amplifier and read the power board/panel with a meter, detect the bad component and replace it.
If you don't know about electronic repairs, then take the amplifier to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you.
Good luck.
My 1997 ARCAM Alpha 10 Preamp when its turned on
an inside protection circuit is causing ur amp to click off. this may happen due to bad power amp, fault somewhere on power unit, speaker impedance mismatch, system shutting down due to over heating. if u have no idea it is best u get it checked by a qualified technician.
Hi, i just had my cambridge azur 340 A SE back
You should have reported the faults back to the repair people! It does however sound like an earth link is missing or detached. It's possible that somebody has not soldered something right, or during transit a dry joint developed.
Cambridge Audio Azur 340A amplifier,no sound
Start with the basics first. 1. With the amp on, in each imput socket plug a dual end phono cable in and touch the right and left plugs with your finger. You should get a buzz on each speaker. No buzz and the channel at that terminal is not working. If none of the terminals buzz. Then the amp is dead.
If some buzz and others not you have a pre-amp problem.
2: Amp Dead. Could be A power supply. B main pre-amp. C Power Amp.
The power supply check for a fuse.
The main pre-amp will only effect both channels if an IC controls both.
The Power Amp will again only loose both channels generally if it is an IC. It will be attached to a big heat sink and have lots of pins comming from it.
If it uses transistors for the main amp, you can check these with an Ohm meter. With the power off place the leads on each terminal of each transistor. If the meter goes fully over (like when you touch the leads together) each way it has shorted.
The thing to remember when repairing stereo amps. Is that the amp is two identical amps joined together. So what happens one side will happen on the other. If both channels don't work look for something that is common to both.
Good luck
PS never heard of 'cliperd'.
Caimbridge audio amp right channel always dies
Stereo amps are two mono amps put together. So if you have a bad channel then you also have a good channel to compare it with. I suspect you have a faulty transistor. You can test it by proding the channels with a pen or your finger - touching plastic only parts. The two channels should buzz. If buzzs in the left then if you touch it in the right it should do the same. An alteration or change in the sound in the right and you have found the faulty part. It's nothing to do with the power supply section so keep away from that!
DC error Cambridge audio amplifier
For model AZUR 740A with random DC-error on display after power on.
Only several resets will be a solution, but not for long !!
Behind the rear panel is a small pcb with 2 relays
which switch the transformer AC output to the rectifiers of each amp channel
Relays are branded " MASSUSE", type ME-11,with a 12VDC coil,
contacts 8A / 250VAC
They are DPDT type.( double pole double throw)
Contacts will detoriate ( burned) after several years.
Replacing these relays by a good model ( Schrack i.e.) will be the final solution to
get rid of the DC-error problem and will save your speakers !!
The pcb can be removed without disassemling the rear cover, only the top cover is enough, but this is with very tiny TORX screws. You need a very small fitting tool.
