Denon AVR-2700 Receiver Questions & Answers
I have a Denon AVR-2700
How do I stop my enon 2700 from overheating? It runs for approximately 1 hour then goes to standby.
Connect to Video Component
Check your receiver. It should also have a single composite video output jack as well. Usually one of the component video inputs on the tv is also labeled for composite use as well.

If it won't turn on it won't do anything at a higher level of function.
Perhap it's self-protecting.
Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.
Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.
You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.
If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.
If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Welcome to FixYa.
Solution 1.
Uplug and replug the receiver for 3 times with intervals of 5 minutes. This clears any last instruction loaded to its memory.
Solution 2.
Press and hold the STEREO and DIRECT buttons while pressing the main power switch.
When the display segments all light up and flash at 1 second intervals you can release the buttons.
These types of mysterious lockups is extremely common on some Denon models.
If the above solution did not resolve the issue, then we are looking at some busted main npn transistor 2SD2560 or equivalent and also the two 0.22 ohms/ 2W resistor near that transistor.
Thank you for using Fixya. Have a great day.

Your PC's sound card may not be a lot unlike any other audio device. It might even have a dgital input. Only YOU can tell.
Standard PC Microphone input would accept any Line Level from any standard audio device. Your sound controls would adjust its volume.
