Had a lightning strike near

That strike could easily blown an internal component either via the mains supply or aerial, near where I live in those bad old days before a local TV relay got fitted with protection a strike on it would blow every "suitable" house in the main road that led to it as it followed along that mains cable. If you are seeing nothing (including a set up menu) then its had it because repair costs make it not worth it, claim on insurance possibly house contents as a service contract would exclude it I would think. If you can see the menu then try initial set up and see if that helps restore things if not then it would be a new set. Hope this helps..........

Power Issue in a Yamaha Home Theatre. I can get it to switch on, then it clicks itself off almost immediately. Seriously baffled, peeps.

Well, there's not enough information you've provided and I'd prefer not to guess.

Power failure with yamaha RXV1600 areceiver

Google yamaha rx-v1700 power problem and you will find that a capacitor # C4 is failing throughout the RX-V line of receivers. It's an easy replacement fix but on some earlier models it may be labelled C6 - the fix post has pics of it and specs - readily available. Capacitor is a 0.022UF 630v.

All input sources eg. DVD, cab/sat, cd, tuner etc have audio out of the amp ... but not the tv. Can someone help me with this one?

Have you checked to make sure the TV connection is from the correct TV output? The TV is not on mute? Recheck all connections. The amp obviously works ok.

Can't find hdmi input selection on Yamaha rxv1600

Depending on what you are connecting to your HDMI inputs, rotating the input selector on the front panel (or one of the input selector buttons on remote), to which you've assigned the component on HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 on the back panel should give you the connection. Make sure you have an HDMI component connected to it, and that you're using its HDMI out connector (eg. output of DVD to input on your Yamaha). Hope this helps.

Yamaha rx-v1600 hdmi output not working

Have you inspected the HDMI socket? I had the same problem and the socket had been damaged by a tight fit cabinet with insuficcient space behind the amplifier. A sideways cable tug on the inserted HDMI cable had snapped a small piece of plastic seperating the two rows of HDMI connectors, and three were splayed out, so no connection when plugged in. Solution was to carefully re-align the connector fingers and glue a tiny piece of insulating material between the two rows. The output now works perfectly. A bit fiddley, but worth the trouble when you look at how much Yamaha would charge to fit a new socket, or even a new board!Don.

Yamaha rx-v1600. I am failing in my attempt to get

After 6.5 hours, I am now listening to music outside on my patio using my rxv-1600!
Connect your speakers to the Presence Zone 2(3) output on back. Then power up amp and select zone 2 on front of amp. Nothing will happen, because as I found out, you must route an input to zone 2 or 3. Which is cool, because you can listen to something outside that is different from your inside.
You select what to route to the zone by pressing Zone Control button, just right of zone 2 and 3 button. While you see red zone light blinking, rotate input select knob to prefered input, i.e. radio/cd/aux/etc... also, you can adjust volume by pressing zone control and turning up the volume knob, only while ZONE light is blinking.
hope that helps, i know i was frustrated figuring that out!
